President Donald Trump jokes about it a lot, but he knows he can’t run again. His musings about a “third term” drove Democrats and RINO detractors bonkers, but that was the point. Trump is a master troll, and he uses that skill to his advantage.
But on Wednesday, the president seemed to acknowledge his political mortality when he announced a dynamic duo he says (and I agree) will be “unbeatable” in 2028.
Yes, you guessed it: Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State/+5 Other Jobs Marco Rubio.
In an interview with Pod Force One host and NY Post columnist Miranda Devine, Trump said he’s been “studying” the two.
“So I watch them together. They get along great. They have a good relationship. They’re sort of similar in a lot of ways, but they’re very talented,” he said.
“I think the two of them running together as a team would be very unbeatable,” he said.
He also said he really likes both men.
“Well, I like them both, and I like them together. You know, it would be great. I don’t know how you beat them if they’re together; that would be a great team. JD and Marco would be a great team,” he told Devine.
Trump also acknowledged that the pairing is somewhat premature.
“They have to agree to it. We still have, you know, we have a long time left. We have more than two and a half years, substantially more than two and a half years,” he added. Trump also noted their youth – Rubio is 55 and Vance is 41 – would be a huge advantage.
The president also made the point that a lot of us on the right have made: The Democrat bench is thinner than the hair on grandpappy’s head.
“I would think that JD and Marco as a team would be very hard to beat, when you compare that to these low IQ people that we have on the other side,” he told Devine.
Trump has been on the Vance/Rubio ticket for sometime, telling reporters in October: “I’m not sure if anybody would run against those two.”
“I think if they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable. I really do, I believe that,” he said.
Speaking with reporters on board Air Force One en route to Japan on Monday, President Trump again refused to rule out a bid for a third presidential term, despite the 22nd Amendment limiting presidents to being elected twice.

The Democrat lapdog media went wild when Trump ‘wouldn’t rule out’ a third White House run. But a few months later – he did: ‘It’s not gonna be me’ while referencing Vance and Rubio again:
“Could be a couple of people sitting at this table. Could be a couple of people running together, sitting at this table, but I want them to win, because we’ve done a great job for this country, and I want that to be carried forward,” he added.
