Too Funny: California’s New Congressional Map Just Backfired On Gavin Newsom

Gavin Newsom and his merry band of Democrats thought they were just so smart. ‘Let’s gerrymander our congressional districts like Texas and offset Republican gains!’

Seemed so easy. And the voters of California agreed. They passed the ‘ballot issue’ that would take away five Republican seats and make California bluer – and more ignorant – than it already was.

Except that the plan backfired, somewhat. Thanks to the state’s jungle primaries, a former Republican-turned-independent and another Republican came in first and second in Tuesday’s primaries in the 6th district.

No Democrat pickup there for Gov. Hair Gel. Insert your laughter here:

Gavin Newsom’s own gerrymander may have just backfired spectacularly.

California’s 6th Congressional district — that was recently “redrawn” by Newsom to help Democrats — now has an independent and a Republican in the top two spots to advance in the primary.

CNN: “California’s 6th Congressional district right now, this is one of the districts that was redrawn because Democrats thought it would be a good pickup opportunity.”

“Kevin Kiley is the incumbent. He’s an independent now, but he was a Republican, and he’s definitely not a Democrat.”

“And the first two people in this race right now, and the top two advance, are the independent and the Republicans, NOT the Democrat.”

“Still, only 50% counted right now. But how nervous are Democrats here that they might be boxed out of this district they DREW as a pickup?”

This might go down as one of Newsom’s most brutal self-inflicted owns of all time.

“This might go down as one of Newsom’s most brutal self-inflicted owns of all time.” Absolutely right.

Meanwhile, GOP and GOP-leaning candidates also had a good night in the gubernatorial and Los Angeles primaries.

Are enough Californians finally tired of the Democrat-caused destruction of their state? We shall see.
