Tucker Carlson was taken off the air at Fox News and new details emerge that show his opinion on why this may have happened. Information coming out of an article posted on Vanity Fair suggest Tucker Carlson believes he was removed from the Fox News lineup because the Murdoch children may be setting up a potential sale of Fox News. These are Tucker Carlson’s beliefs and it’s unlikely the Murdoch’s will say much until, or unless, some concrete details of a possible sale are underway or not happening at all.
The post on Vanity Fair discussed Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and her phone call with Tucker Carlson and then some information that was revealed a bit afterwards. The news article on Vanity Fair said the following:
On Monday morning, Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott called Carlson and informed him he was being taken off the air, and his Fox News email account was shut off. According to a source briefed on the conversation, Carlson was stunned by his sudden ouster from his 8 p.m. show, the most watched program in cable news last month. Carlson was in the midst of negotiating the renewal of his Fox News contract through 2029, the source said. As of last week, Carlson had told people he expected the contract to be renewed.
Carlson has told people he doesn’t know why he was terminated. According to the source, Scott refused to tell him how the decision was made; she only said that it was made “from above.” Carlson has told people he believes his controversial show is being taken off the air because the Murdoch children intend to sell Fox News at some point.
Whether or not the Murdoch’s children go through with a sale or even have plans to sell the network remain to be seen.
When Tucker Carlson was taken off the air at Fox News, the network issued a statement that said: We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
The network also said there would be a new show at 8pm called “Fox News Tonight” that would start on Monday. That show will rotate hosts provided by Fox News until a new host is officially named. Brian Kilmeade tried to host, but it was not the ratings monster that Tucker Carlson was.
At least one network has made an offer to Tucker Carlson so far, but nothing has come of it yet.
Tucker Carlson was one of Fox News’ top host in the prime time range. He had millions of viewers each night and some reports say he was one of the most watched ‘pundit’ on cable TV.
It still remains, at the time this was posted, why Tucker Carlson and Fox News parted ways. However, Tucker Carlson isn’t the only host who’s leaving the network. Dan Bongino has left Fox News as well.
