Thousands of students and fans flocked to welcome former President Donald Trump at the much-anticipated Alabama-Georgia college football game on Saturday. Trump had announced his attendance at the historic match-up earlier this month, continuing his tradition of attending college football games while campaigning. He attended multiple games during the Republican primary and also made appearances at several games during his presidency, including the national championship games in 2017 and 2020.
On Saturday, a noticeable security presence was established in anticipation of the former president’s arrival. Following two assassination attempts on his life in the past 100 days—one of which resulted in Trump being injured and led to the death of one of his supporters—the Secret Service was seen implementing additional precautions ahead of the game.
Trump arrived at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, approximately halfway through the first quarter. He was welcomed by thousands of students and fans who gathered around both sides of his entrance. As the Republican nominee interacted with supporters, chants of “Four More Years” and “USA” resonated throughout the crowd.
Trump, appearing to enjoy the moment, took time to distribute hats and other items to the large crowd. He received an enthusiastic response from the audience of 100,000 when his image was displayed on the stadium scoreboard toward the end of the first quarter. The Republican nominee was accompanied in his suite by Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Senator Katie Britt (R-AL), golf legend John Daly, musician Kid Rock, and several others. Once seated, chants of “USA” and “Four More Years” erupted from the crowd once again.
