President Joe Biden is being mocked again for telling another demonstrable lie, this time via a giant billboard in New York City’s famous Times Square. The billboard belongs to the Job Creators Network and hits Biden over his false claim that inflation was already high when then-President Donald Trump left office.
INFLATION…IT WAS AT 9 PERCENT WHEN I CAME IN OFFICE” the billboard reads. “HEY PAL. HOW MANY MORE TIMES DO WE HAVE TO HEAR THIS MALARKEY?! DO YOU THINK WE’RE STUPID OR SOMETHING?”

Indeed, Biden has repeatedly made false and misleading statements about inflation in recent weeks. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explained that President Biden’s incorrect claim that inflation was nine percent when he took office was meant to suggest that “the factors that caused inflation were in place when he walked into the administration when he took office.”
“Consumer prices have soared by 20 percent on President Biden’s watch, leaving small businesses and American families in difficult financial straits. But Biden continues to try to rewrite history in an attempt to deflect blame and bolster support ahead of the November election,” Alfredo Ortiz, Chief Executive Officer of the Job Creators Network, said in a statement. “When Biden took office, inflation was at 1.4 percent, not 9 percent as he recently claimed. Does the White House think we’re stupid or something?”
The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported on Tuesday that inflation, measured by the producer price index, increased to 2.2% for the year ending in April. This marks the third consecutive rise in the headline inflation rate, contrary to the trend desired by the Federal Reserve and serving as a cautionary indicator for President Joe Biden.
The majority of economists had predicted that annual inflation would rise by this margin, aligning with expectations. However, on a month-to-month basis, the price index surged by 0.5%, surpassing initial forecasts — news that will not bode well for Biden’s reelection, as ‘the economy’ has become the number one issue of concern for a majority of voters.
“Net inflation at the producer level is back on the front burner this month and consumers are sure to feel the heat as higher production costs will feed into the inflation they see in the goods and services they buy,” said Chris Rupkey, chief economist at FWDBONDS, the Washington Examiner stated.
