Hakeem Jeffries Just Proved Why Democrats Won’t Get Anything Done For Americans

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries went on ABC's This Week and made clear Democrats plan to impeach Pete Hegseth and refuse any cooperation with new White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.

The 2026 midterms weren’t even fully in the rearview mirror before House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries proved that they will not do a single useful thing for Americans. The reason? Because they’ll be too busy impeaching anyone and everyone for everything and nothing.

All the Democrats want to do right now is target Trump, Hegseth, and many others in the White House? Why are they doing this? Because they’re overpowered by TDS and their vindictive little baby attitude doesn’t let them act like adults anymore. Trump turned the Democratic Party into a bunch of insane people who won’t work on anything for the better good of actual Americans.

Hakeem hit the Sunday shows to announce that Democrats plan to spend their new power on impeachments and refusing to work with the White House. Voters who pulled the lever for Democrats because gas prices were eating them alive must feel so represented right now.

Jeffries sat down with ABC’s Jonathan Karl on This Week and unloaded on newly appointed White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, calling the pick an “irresponsible decision” and ruling out any cooperation whatsoever. There’s not going to be any opportunity to work with Stephen Miller and what he represents,” Jeffries told Karl. “We’re committed to forcefully pushing back against the extremism that they may try to continue to unleash on the American people.” So bipartisanship is dead, and Democrats murdered it before Thanksgiving.

Jeffries called Miller “the architect of Donald Trump’s violent mass deportation machine” and said he had “unleashed billions of taxpayer dollars to brutalize and kill American citizens.” In plain English, that means enforcing immigration laws that Congress passed on a bipartisan vote and agents defending themselves when attacked. But plain English doesn’t get you on ABC, so here we are. Jeffries comments on Miller and Hegseth for anyone who wants the full, unfiltered word salad.

Then Karl asked about Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Jeffries didn’t miss a beat. Republican Rep. Thomas Massie has said he intends to introduce a resolution to impeach Hegseth, and Karl wanted to know if Democrats would back it. “I’m a hard yes on the Hegseth resolution,” Jeffries said, adding that he believes there will be “incredibly strong support” for the measure when Democrats huddle on Tuesday. He called Hegseth the “so-called secretary of defense” and accused him of engineering a “reckless and costly war of choice in Iran.” Which is a creative way to describe the Commander in Chief’s orders carried out by his entire chain of command, but creativity has never been in short supply over there.

Here’s the thing about all this righteous energy: it isn’t going to lower anybody’s gas bill. A big chunk of the people who flipped seats for Democrats did it because filling up the truck was costing them a week’s groceries. Jeffries announcing he’s a “hard yes” on impeachment resolutions doesn’t move that needle one inch. And some Democrats are already floating ideas like cutting off oil and gas development, which would send prices screaming back to Biden-era levels. That’s the era voters were clearly trying to escape, in case anyone in the caucus missed the memo.

Democrats just won a significant midterm victory, and they appear determined to light it on fire as fast as humanly possible. If the last few years taught us anything, it’s that the left cannot help itself. They win a little, they overread it, they go full throttle on the stuff that drives normal Americans crazy, and then they act shocked when the backlash comes. Hakeem Jeffries is running that exact same play, and January will get here before he knows it.
