With the notable exception of John Fetterman, Democrats stick together like a den of thieves. Given that the party exists in its current form today by stealing elections, that makes sense.
Republicans could take a lesson from Democrats on this one issue, but for some strange reason, they won’t. As such, when the party gets into power, the GOP legislative agenda – which was supported by a majority of voters around the country, by the way – gets hijacked by a few dissidents, making the entire party suffer.
This is especially true with you factor President Trump into the equation. TDS on the left is rampant and chronic, but it’s just as chronic among some Republicans who use ‘but…but…muh principles’ as an excuse to thwart him at every turn, even if they are from congressional districts Trump won overwhelmingly.
One such ‘Republican’ is Thomas Massie from Kentucky – the same state that also gave us TDS-afflicted Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul.
Paul’s not going anywhere – yet – but McConnell is retiring, but Massie could be the next Republican lawmaker who opposes the president to see his career in Congress cut short:
President Trump, who endorsed Mr. Massie’s primary opponent Ed Gallrein, railed against Mr. Massie in a Truth Social post Sunday.
“Bad Congressman Tom Massie voted against Tax Cuts, the Border Wall, our Military and Law Enforcement,” he said.
He added, “Actually, he voted against almost everything that is good. The Worst Republican Congressman in History. Kentucky, vote the bum out on Tuesday. We can’t live with this troublemaker for another two years. He is a true negative force!!!” …
Recent polls show Mr. Massie trailing Mr. Gallrein in the primary election.
According to a May 11-12 survey from Quantus Insights, with 908 respondents and a 3.3 percentage-point margin of error, found 48.3% of likely voters say they will vote for Mr. Gallrein, while Mr. Massie garnered 43.1% support.
Another 7.6% said they are undecided, and 71 of those 86 respondents replied to further questions, with 52.4% saying they are leaning toward Mr. Gallrein versus 23.4% toward Mr. Massie.
It should be noted that Republican candidates that Trump endorses have an excellent track record this year of beating their TDS-afflicted incumbent GOP opponents rather handily. And it appears that Massie is about to suffer the same fate.
Oh, and Trump was right about Massie’s horrible anti-conservative voting record:
But as for Massie’s accomplishments? Well, in the political arena, none exist. The congressman never offers anything resembling solutions or alternatives outside of pie-in-the-sky generalities. He helped oust former Speaker Kevin McCarthy when a solid majority of House members approved of his performance, leaving Republicans scrambling for months. …
And despite Massie pretending to care so much, he has never offered himself up as speaker. In fact, he never offered anyone as an alternative to McCarthy or Johnson. Because that would require living in reality and understanding how math works.
Then take Massie’s vote on Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which passed by a single vote in the House in 2025 thanks to him and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). Massie shot it down because it didn’t cut spending enough to his liking. Here’s the problem: Without certain programs in it (such as SALT reductions), the bill doesn’t pass because moderates had promised to reject it. You have to give a little to get a little. If the bill didn’t pass, as Massie desired, the result would have been a huge win for Democrats and a huge tax increase on people.
But for Massie, the possible consequences of his actions (and lack thereof) aren’t the point. It’s all about fundraising and retaining power.
Massie needs to go. We can’t afford any more of this ‘muh principles’ BS from pretend Republicans who don’t really have any principles, they just have Trump Derangement Syndrome. We have a country to save.
