President Trump strongly responded to political commentator Megyn Kelly after she suggested on her SiriusXM show that the U.S. service members who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict with Iran “did not die for the United States.” Kelly’s controversial statements came in light of reports confirming the deaths of six American soldiers during the joint U.S.-Israeli Operation Epic Fury, which successfully targeted Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and numerous high-ranking officials in the regime.
Her comments seemed to ignite the President’s anger, as he defended the operation as vital for stopping a nuclear-armed Iran. It was completely unacceptable for her to belittle the sacrifice of those fallen troops by implying they died in defense of Israel rather than for their own country.
“My own feeling is no one should have to die for a foreign country,” she said on Monday. “I don’t think those four (updated to six) service members died for the United States. I think they died for Iran or for Israel.”

Regardless of one’s stance on the ongoing operation, claiming that troops died for Israel not only undermines their honorable sacrifice on behalf of the United States but also casts doubt on the President, implying he’s being led around by foreign leaders.
In an interview with journalist Rachael Bade of The Inner Circle, Trump suggested that she pick up a history book to better understand the situation.
“Megan was opposed to me for years when I ran the first time, and nothing stopped me,” he said. “And so, you know, some people are against — and they always come back. She came all the way back. But now I guess she maybe doesn’t like the idea of this war, but I do because I have to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of the Iranians.”
Trump indicated that the MAGA movement is fully supporting him in this endeavor, rather than Kelly or former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has also criticized the administration regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran. Carlson, according to ABC’s Jonathan Karl, called Operation Epic Fury “absolutely disgusting and evil.”

“I have to do what’s right, number one — and you can’t have Iran getting a nuclear weapon. That’s predominant to me,” the President told Bade.
“I think that MAGA is Trump — MAGA’s not the other two,” Trump confidently shot back. “MAGA wants to see our country thrive and be safe. And MAGA loves what I’m doing — every aspect of it… This is a detour that we have to take in order to keep our country safe and keep other countries safe, frankly.”
Regarding Carlson, the President said he “can say whatever he wants; it has no impact on me.”
On Monday, Trump submitted an official notification to Congress to explain the rationale behind the U.S. attacks on Iran.
“I directed this military action consistent with my responsibility to protect Americans and United States interests both at home and abroad and in furtherance of United States national security and foreign policy interests,” he explained.
“Despite my Administration’s repeated efforts to achieve a diplomatic solution to Iran’s malign behavior, the threat to the United States and its allies and partners became untenable.”
