They say ‘karma’ is a real thing, and if judging by what just happened to longtime Trump-Russia collusion hoaxer Sen. Adam Schiff, we’d have to say we agree. During an appearance on “Real Time” with Bill Maher on Friday, Schiff (D-CA) revealed that his luggage was stolen in San Francisco about two years ago. The progressive Democrat then attempted to downplay the impact of his party’s soft-on-crime policies, despite having supported them for years.
Schiff also acknowledged recent polling showing deep concerns with Democratic leadership in California ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, when the state will choose a new governor. One troubling poll found that nearly 50 percent of California voters would consider backing a Republican candidate, with cost of living and crime cited as top issues. “So we’re going to have to change how we do business in California. We’re going to have to address people’s legitimate concerns about crime,” Schiff — a longtime supporter of “bail reform” policies — told Maher.
“I was in South San Francisco two years ago after I had an experience in the city that all too many people had when my luggage was stolen out of my car. They tell you don’t ever leave your luggage in the car. I never do until the one time I did. And of course it got stolen,” the senator then revealed.
Schiff revealed that after the incident, he had a memorable conversation with a cashier at Target, where he went to restock on essential supplies. “You went there by yourself, not an assistant?” Maher interjected. “I uh… I think I went there… well yes, I had somebody drop me off at the store,” Schiff conceded, at which point the audience roared with laughter. “Well, he was honest in admitting it, right?” Maher joked.
Schiff then continued with his story, recalling that he had to find the cashier, who was “hard to find,” in order to unlock basic items like shampoo. “So that’s one thing. And then I get to the cashier. The cashier asked me if I want one of those Target bags with a little bullseye on it. And I said, ‘yes, that Target bag is going to be my luggage for the next two days,’” the senator recalled.
“And she asked me what happened. And I told her and she basically said in not so many words yet Democrats are a***oles,” he continued. “And I thought, you know, if the cashier in South San Francisco at 10 o’clock at night believes that Democrats are a***oles because the shampoo is locked up and my stuff got stolen out of the trunk, we’ve got a major problem that we have to address.”
Schiff sounds a lot like a Republican – especially the one he’s spent the past eight years lying about being a “Russian asset” and claiming to have non-existent proof. President Trump, who is somewhere smiling about Schiff’s misfortune, has been a law-and-order leader from the outset, but Democrats have for years been implementing “criminals first” policies that have led to lawlessness, destruction, and violence. If Schiff is serious about dealing with crime, let him show us with examples such as sponsoring new tough-on-crime legislation and supporting pro-police policies that the GOP has championed for decades. We won’t hold our breath.
