President Biden’s approval rating has fallen to its lowest point since he took office in 2021, according to a new survey released Wednesday. The Marquette Law School Poll found that Biden’s approval rating dropped to 34 percent in December, down 4 points from October’s 38 percent, with just over a month remaining before he leaves the White House. Meanwhile, the president’s disapproval rating rose to 66 percent this month, a 4-point increase from October’s 62 percent, The Hill reported.
Biden’s approval rating has remained below 40 percent in every Marquette Law School Poll national survey since September of last year, the pollster noted. His highest approval rating was in July 2021, when it reached 58 percent. The president’s favorability also declined by 2 points since October, standing at 37 percent in December. His lowest favorability rating was 34 percent in July 2022, while his highest was 45 percent in November 2021, the outlet continued.
Biden has struggled with low approval ratings throughout his presidency. After withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race, his approval rating dropped to 36 percent in a Gallup survey, down from 38 percent in February’s Gallup poll. Currently, Biden’s approval stands at 36.8 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight. Meanwhile, The Hill/Decision Desk HQ aggregate of polls shows his approval at 39.4 percent, with 56 percent disapproving.
Meanwhile, Jill Biden, reportedly frustrated by the Democratic Party sidelining her husband, is urging President Joe Biden to “burn it all down” before leaving office next month, according to sources cited by the Daily Mail. The sources claim she has been feeling particularly “vengeful” recently. Instead of focusing on this year’s “tacky” Christmas decorations or farewell parties for longtime staff members, Jill has allegedly compiled a “naughty list” that includes the Obamas and Vice President Kamala Harris, with whom she has reportedly had a longstanding dislike.
Her behavior comes in the wake of open criticism from top Democratic officials, who expressed disappointment in President Biden for pardoning his son, Hunter, despite repeatedly promising over the past year that he would not. “Jill views Democrats on Capitol Hill, the [wider] party, the Obamas, staff inside and outside the White House, the media, and all of Washington DC with such misguided resentment that I can’t imagine she [isn’t] encouraging [Joe] to burn the whole thing down, despite his better judgment,” an insider told the outlet.
One of Jill Biden’s primary targets in these final weeks is Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the influential former House Speaker who orchestrated an insurgent effort to push President Biden out of the race and elevate Vice President Kamala Harris during the Democratic National Convention. Insiders reveal that Pelosi pressured Biden to drop out just hours before his announcement on July 21st. Despite a friendship spanning five decades, Biden has reportedly given Pelosi the cold shoulder ever since, with many observers believing that mending their relationship is now virtually impossible.
Former President Barack Obama has also been the target of Jill Biden’s frustration after it was revealed that he urged actor George Clooney to write a high-profile op-ed in The New York Times calling on President Biden to step aside for the good of the Democratic Party. Clooney, through anonymous allies, has reportedly criticized Obama for involving him in the situation, with friends noting that Clooney has faced sharp backlash in the wake of the election, said the outlet.
