Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state and twice-failed presidential candidate, has once again weighed in on national politics — this time taking aim at President Donald Trump’s move to restore order in Washington, D.C. Clinton blasted her 2016 rival as “unhinged” and cited an overall drop in crime in the capital to question the need for his intervention.

“As you listen to an unhinged Trump try to justify deploying the National Guard in DC, here’s reality: Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low,” Clinton wrote on X shortly after Trump’s press conference, where he announced the federal takeover.

“As you listen to an unhinged Trump try to justify deploying the National Guard in DC, here’s reality: Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low,” Clinton wrote on X shortly after Trump’s Monday press conference, where he announced the federal takeover.

Clinton, who has restricted comments on her posts to followers only, quickly drew backlash for what critics described as an unsolicited and irrelevant contribution to the public conversation. “On top of being a big-time loser, you’re also a massive liar,” seethed Trump’s Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson, who cited a story from July about a police commander who was suspended for falsifying recent crime statistics.

Meanwhile, Trump received a ringing endorsement from a surprising group after he announced Monday morning that he was “federalizing” Washington, D.C., after declaring a crime emergency.

Dear Americans, this shirt is for you!
It comes in mens and womens and lets your friends know you're happy to express your views and don't care what anyone thinks! Cheers!

In a bold statement, the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police union said its members welcome the Trump administration’s federalization of the department — a setback for Mayor Muriel Bowser and other liberals who have accused the president of indifference toward crime in the nation’s capital.

Union Chair Gregg Pemberton praised President Donald Trump’s move to take control of the Metropolitan Police Department and bolster its ranks with National Guard troops and FBI agents, calling the action a “critical stopgap” in the face of “out-of-control” crime.
