During a fiery segment on The View, New York City Mayor Eric Adams pushed back on Friday against comparisons made by some Democrats between former President Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler, arguing that such rhetoric undermines national unity. Adams, a Democrat, resisted co-host Joy Behar’s pointed attempts to draw him into directly criticizing Trump, instead calling on leaders from both parties to tone down the intensity of political discourse.
“Let’s love the country. Let’s love our cities,” Adams started. “Let’s get away from the rhetoric of the professionalism that we know. Those are experts in this. They’re going to look at his proposal, do a real analysis, and make these decisions. It happens every day. We’ve reached a point in this country where we no longer want to engage in conversation. They were even calling him Hitler. That was an insult to the millions of Jews and others who died. We know what Hitler did.” Adams also mentioned larger societal tensions, discussing his interactions with young people in New York. “When I’m on the streets talking to my young people who [are] wearing Hamas signs and calling for the destruction of groups, I said we have to bring down this rhetoric.”
Adams is currently under intense legal scrutiny, facing federal charges of bribery, wire fraud, and conspiracy. Prosecutors allege that Adams accepted luxury gifts and illegal campaign contributions from Turkish nationals in exchange for political favors. Trump has criticized the charges against Adams, labeling them as prosecutorial overreach. Trump has drawn parallels to his own legal challenges, further fueling debates about the motivations behind these high-profile indictments.

Despite the results of this month’s presidential election, in which Trump blew out Vice President Kamala Harris with a national vote majority and 312 electoral votes, far-left cable news figures still don’t get it. MSNBC host Joy Reid tore into supporters of President-elect Trump using divisive and racial overtones this week and suggesting that anyone who voted for Vice President Kamala Harris was not under any obligation to hang out with Trump-supporting family members for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“Make your own sandwiches, wipe your own tears, troll amongst yourselves with Elon, and leave us alone,” Reid said during her Wednesday pre-Thanksgiving Day show. “You got your heart’s desire. The president you dreamed of and worshiped instead of Jesus. And this time, you didn’t even have to storm the Capitol, smash the windows or try to k*ll police officers or issue de*th threats to poll workers.”
“But if you expect the 73 million who voted for the prosecutor, not the felon, and particularly the 92% of black women who voted for Kamala to give you a cookie for your vote, a trophy, a hug, a high five, you might be asking too much. If we want to eat with you, we will. But if we just want some peace over the holidays, and we don’t want to put up with your trolling… get over it. Stop acting like we owe you,” she added.
