This week, former President Donald Trump received some more very good 2024 election news in the form of some surveys showing him leading President Joe Biden in a pair of states Republican presidential contenders have not won in decades—Minnesota and Virginia.

According to Decision Desk HQ, Trump is leading Biden by a fraction of a percent in Virginia and by 1.6 points in Minnesota.

Fox News added:

Former President Donald Trump and Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin met this week. They discussed efforts to flip Virginia red in the 2024 presidential election, Fox News Digital has learned.

Two sources with knowledge of the meeting told Fox News Digital on Thursday that Trump and Youngkin had discussed recent polling showing Trump neck-and-neck with President Biden in the Old Dominion State, after Biden won the state by 10 points in 2020. The meeting included discussions on how Trump can pull ahead of Biden as the election cycle further intensifies.

The pair discussed energy, inflation, and trade. This meeting was the first ever between the 45th president and Youngkin, who was elected governor in the state’s 2021 election. Youngkin is the state’s first Republican governor since Bob McDonnell’s tenure from 2010 to 2014.

A recent Roanoke College poll released in late May showed Trump and  Biden tied in the traditionally blue state of Virginia, each garnering 42% support in a head-to-head matchup. This marks the first time the Roanoke College Poll has shown a tie between the two candidates in this blue-leaning state, signaling a competitive race as the 2024 presidential election nears.

The Institute for Policy and Opinion Research at Roanoke College conducted the poll, surveying 711 likely voters in Virginia between May 12 and May 21, 2024. In a head-to-head matchup, both Biden and Trump each received 42% support. When other candidates are included, Biden holds a narrow lead with 40% to Trump’s 38%. A key takeaway from the poll is the high level of certainty and enthusiasm among voters, indicating a competitive race as the 2024 presidential election approaches.
