President Trump knows full well that Democrats’ campaign pledges of ‘lowering costs’ and ‘making things more affordable’ for Americans is BS. He knows that one of the first things the party will do if they win back the House and/or Senate is a) impeach him and b) see answer ‘a.’ But he appears to be prepared for that.
Trump warned Thursday that another Democratic impeachment effort could change his decision not to pursue prominent political adversaries, saying his administration has information about Hillary Clinton and former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden that could be used against them criminally.
Trump made the remarks during an interview with Newsmax host Rob Finnerty as Republicans increasingly warn that Democrats could launch investigations and potentially pursue a third impeachment if they capture control of the House in the November 3 midterm elections.
“They impeached me twice,” Trump said, arguing that both proceedings ultimately failed to remove him from office and claiming the efforts may have helped him politically. Trump then turned to several of the Democratic Party’s most prominent figures and said he previously resisted efforts to pursue them.
“I could have done numbers in Hillary Clinton,” Trump said, before adding that he also could have pursued former President Bill Clinton and Obama. “I could do big numbers if I wanted to,” Trump continued, saying he had previously declined to go after Hillary Clinton and clarifying that he was talking about potentially pursuing her “criminally.”
The president also claimed that his administration possesses substantial information about Clinton, Obama and Biden that could damage their reputations, although he did not disclose the information or identify specific criminal offenses he believes they committed.
“We have a lot of information about Hillary,” Trump said, adding that the administration also has “a lot of information” involving Obama and Biden. When Finnerty asked whether Trump intended to act on that information, the president initially indicated that he probably would not before suggesting another impeachment attempt could cause him to reconsider.
“Well, I mean, I guess not, probably not,” Trump said, before adding, “But I think if they impeach me again, you know, again.” Trump’s comments came as Democrats prepare an extensive oversight agenda should they win the House, including possible investigations involving the president, his family, administration officials and business interests.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has said Democrats would focus on affordability, health care and other legislative priorities — none of which they’ve pursued with Republicans for the past two years — while also promising aggressive oversight if his party takes control.
Jeffries has stopped short of promising impeachment, repeatedly saying Democrats have neither ruled it in nor ruled it out and would instead “follow the facts, apply the law and be guided by the United States Constitution” — which is typical Democrat fallback, using ‘the Constitution’ when it’s convenient and ignoring it when that’s convenient.
Trump was impeached twice during his first administration, first in 2019 over his dealings with Ukraine and again in January 2021 following the attack on the U.S. Capitol, but the Senate acquitted him in both cases because they were based on BS.
Earlier this month, Trump similarly said he “could have done very bad things” to Clinton, Biden and Obama but had refrained because he viewed the presidency as a position that should be treated with respect.
