President Donald Trump brought boxing legend Mike Tyson on stage at a rally in Syracuse, New York on Friday, pumping his fist in the air and calling the former heavyweight champion one of the most dangerous fighters in history. Tyson had spent part of the day at the White House before boarding a helicopter with Trump to attend the event.

When Trump took the stage to a loud ovation, it didn’t take long for him to single out Tyson in the crowd. “I see someone in the audience, who I will never fight. I promise,” Trump told the crowd. He went on to describe Tyson in his prime: “He’d stand in the corner, and all of his people would be holding him back. He wanted to kill whoever it was. He was a very dangerous person, actually. He’s one of the greatest fighters in history. Iron Mike Tyson is here.”

Trump also joked that members of his team were wise to stand close to Tyson, saying it kept them safe from potential protesters. Moments later, a protester interrupted the speech and was escorted out of the venue. You can find more details on the Trump Tyson New York rally.

Tyson later joined Trump on stage and kept his remarks brief. “Thank you. Thank you very much. I’m just happy to be up here with my president, President Trump,” Tyson said. There’s no way I’d ever be here if it wasn’t a president like Donald Trump.”

Earlier in the day, before the two left for Syracuse, Tyson stood at the podium in the White House briefing room. When reporters asked what would be discussed at the rally, Tyson laughed. A White House staff member then asked for “no tough questions,” which drew more laughter. When asked how Republicans might do in the midterm elections, Tyson said simply, “I think Donald Trump will win.

Trump also referenced his long history with Tyson. A new documentary is set to chronicle that relationship, which dates to 1988, when Trump reportedly paid $11 million to host Tyson’s heavyweight bout against Michael Spinks at Atlantic City Convention Hall, next to Trump Plaza in New Jersey. “Paid a lot of money for that fight, and it was worth it,” Trump said in an interview for the documentary. The rally also included a moment of tribute after Trump was informed of the passing of NFL legend Mike Ditka, who had been a supporter of the president.
