There’s Been A Big Update On Mitch McConnell’s Health Condition

What in the world is going on with former GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell? Last week there were some pretty shocking reports that he had suffered a “cardiac arrest” and had CPR performed on him to revive him. Now, being a former paramedic, I can tell you a) the vast majority of people who suffer from cardiac arrest don’t survive; and b) of those few who do, even fewer of them ever walk out of the hospital.

McConnell is no spring chicken, either, mind you, so the odds of him surviving a cardiac arrest are pretty slim. And yet, we have an update about his condition, and from a credible source:

Conservative commentator Scott Jennings gave an update on the situation with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who has been in the hospital since he was found unconscious last month.

In a Tuesday post on X, Jennings said he spoke with McConnell and that he is “still recovering in the hospital” and that they “talked for just shy of 20 minutes … about IRAN, UKRAINE, and unfolding situation in MAINE, my visit to the TR Presidential Library, and even a little bit of Senate history.”

Jennings added, “I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible.”

Now, look. Jennings is as trustworthy a conservative as they come, so I really want to believe him. But again, we’re talking about an 84-year-old McConnell who has suffered brain freezes, falls, and other maladies too numerous to remember over the past few years. So if the guy lapsed into cardiac arrest, my instincts and experience tell me he’s not doing well at all.

Time will tell, I suppose.
