Top Democrat Just Said ‘No’ to 2028 Presidential Bid Amid Historically Bad Party Polling

I know we’re not even through the 2026 midterms. But American politics is a never-ending cycle, so of course, many politicos are already looking at who might succeed President Trump in 2028.

On the GOP side, most of us are pulling for either Vice President JD Vance or Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Honestly, the vast majority of MAGA would love to see a joint ticket featuring these two Republican stars.

What about the Domestic Terrorist Party? Who, pray tell, will be their next Bill Clinton or Barack Obama? So far, there is no one remotely close.

Yes, California Gov. Gavin Newsom gets the most press. But let’s face it, his record leading the Golden State is horrendous. He should consider himself lucky if he made it through the primaries.

So who, then? Kamala Harris? Oh, heck no. Americans have seen this cackling bad movie already. And now, another so-called Democrat ‘rising star’ – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer – has made it clear there will be no 2028 presidential bid from her:

Whitmer has long been viewed by some Democrats as a possible White House contender after her decisive election victories in the closely contested state that Republican Donald Trump has carried twice in presidential votes. For months, however, Whitmer had offered only cautious answers about her political future.

But she delivered her clearest response yet in an interview Thursday with Fox 2 Detroit.

“I think there will be a robust group of people running for president. I will not be one of them in 2028,” Whitmer said.

And the numbers reportedly get even worse for Democrats in a new Emerson College 2028 presidential survey. It shows voters remain far more energized by the emerging Republican field than by any clear Democratic contender.

According to the poll, Rubio and Vance are essentially tied atop the Republican field at 36% and 35%, respectively. Democrats continue to struggle to produce a candidate who generates comparable enthusiasm or momentum.

Newsom and Harris were hardest hit:

Backing for Democratic contenders waned overall, with no candidate receiving more than 20% support in a crowded field that included Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Kamala Harris.

While nearly every Democrat saw a slight increase, Newsom and Harris — arguably the more nationally recognized figures — saw declines.

The new poll found Newsom dropped four points from 20% in February, while Harris fell three points from 13%.

Governors Josh Shapiro and Andy Beshear also saw slight increases, rising from 7% to 10% and from 5% to 9%, respectively.

Yes, 2028 is going to be interesting. Seems like the GOP field is already taking shape, but Democrats just keep taking a beating.

I can’t wait to watch Vance, Rubio, or perhaps even DeSantis maul whatever pitiful Democrat emerges from the primaries.
