Federal Appeals Court Just Ignored The Supreme Court’s Voting Rights Act Ruling

Another day, another federal court ignoring a Supreme Court ruling because they don’t like it. And it’s getting tiresome.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled – correctly – that congressional districts drawn primarily on race are unconstitutional. Makes sense; our Constitution forbids basing anything in our society strictly on race.

The case narrowed the scope of the Voting Rights Act, which was used decades ago by the Democrat left to essentially steal congressional seats under the guise of ‘combatting racism.’

Nevermind that basing congressional districts strictly on race is racism.

Apparently, a federal appeals court didn’t like the Supreme Court’s decision, so they have chosen to ignore it:

A three-judge panel on Tuesday blocked Alabama Republicans’ congressional map that would’ve given the party a potential pickup opportunity in the midterms.

The judges ruled the Supreme Court’s recent blockbuster decision narrowing the Voting Rights Act does not impact their finding that the map intentionally discriminates against black voters in violation of the Constitution.

It means Alabama cannot use its design this year unless Republican leaders appeal directly to the Supreme Court and succeed.

Alabama lawmakers re-implemented a 2023 congressional map after the Supreme Court ruling. Now this federal appeals panel is saying the re-implemented map ‘discriminates’ against black voters.

You can’t make this up. It can’t be both ways – discriminatory against white voters and at the same time discriminatory against black voters.

The re-implemented Alabama map literally did not take race into consideration at all. The map they replaced did.

Republican representative and candidate for U.S. Senate Barry Moore (AL-01) weighed in, and he’s 100 percent correct:

I stand firmly with @AGSteveMarshall and the State of Alabama as they continue defending our lawful map and our constitutional right to draw districts without federal judicial overreach. The Supreme Court has already spoken on the importance of respecting the Constitution and the…

The people of Alabama deserve fair representation, not activist judges rewriting our Constitution to impose Washington politics on our state. This latest ruling against Alabama’s congressional map is another example of unelected bureaucrats trying to override the will of Alabama voters and punish our state for standing its ground.

I stand firmly with @AGSteveMarshall and the State of Alabama as they continue defending our lawful map and our constitutional right to draw districts without federal judicial overreach. The Supreme Court has already spoken on the importance of respecting the Constitution and the role of the states, and it’s critical these principles are upheld consistently and decisively moving forward.

I don’t mind saying, at this point, Congress needs to reform the Judicial Branch. There has to be professional consequences for federal judges who ignore the rulings of the country’s highest court.

Enough is enough.
