Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View” and one of President Donald Trump’s most reliable TV antagonists, posted a video urging voters to throw the “bums” out. The bums, naturally, being Republicans. Her reason? Ground beef has gotten too expensive.
Specifically, she said ground beef is now $6.30 a gallon. A gallon. Of ground beef. Somebody go find that deal immediately, because that is a bargain by any unit of measurement known to science or the meat industry. Even Costco can’t compete with this, but they’ve still got the hot dog deal no one can touch!
Social media did not let that one slide. Ana Navarro ground beef video spread fast, and the responses were merciless. One user wrote, “$6.30 for a gallon of ground beef seems like a pretty good deal!” Another went nostalgic: “I remember when the milkman would drop off a gallon of beef every morning.” A third offered a helpful comparison: “And I see gasoline where I live for less than $4.00 a pound!
Someone else cut straight to the point: “Somebody PLEASE tell me where I can find ground beef for ‘$6.30 a gallon.'” And one commenter summed up the whole situation with painful accuracy, writing, “Do you remember before the internet, that people thought the cause of stupidity was the lack of access to information? Yeah, it wasn’t that.”
The site Twitchy called it a “USDA Grade F get-out-the-vote message,” adding that Navarro “sounds more sauced than usual” and appears to be “a fool when it comes to fuel.” They noted she was essentially urging people to vote Democrat because it is getting expensive to “put ground beef in our cars and trucks or pick up a few jugs of meat at the grocery store.”
To be fair, grocery prices are a real concern for a lot of Americans right now. But if you want people to take your economic argument seriously, it helps to know that meat is sold by the pound, not the gallon. That is a fairly foundational piece of knowledge for someone appearing on national television to lecture the country about kitchen-table issues.
This is the same “The View” that gets trotted out every election cycle as the voice of the serious, informed, suburban woman voter. One of its stars just tried to scare people about beef prices using a unit of measurement that applies to milk, gasoline, and swimming pools. Republicans, somehow, are expected to be the ones voted out over this.
The midterms are here, and Democrats are counting on Ana Navarro to close the deal. If the closing argument involves gallons of beef, Republicans are probably going to be just fine. Stock up on your ground beef, America, by whatever unit you prefer, and head to the polls.
And if you want to see the video as proof that she’s as clueless as you thought she was, then here you go. Watch and share!
