An Amish woman doing yard work outside her home in Sadsbury Township, Pennsylvania turned the tables on a would-be kidnapper using nothing but a weed whacker and sheer nerve. The suspect, 26-year-old Junior Jose Davila-Moran of New Jersey, was arrested after the October 14 encounter, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
According to authorities, Davila-Moran crept up behind the 23-year-old woman, tapped her on the shoulder, and then displayed a large knife and a pair of handcuffs. He allegedly attempted to handcuff her. What he apparently did not account for was that this particular woman does not scare easy.
The woman screamed, grabbed her weed whacker, revved the motor, and moved toward him. Davila-Moran fled. Somewhere out there, a Democrat is probably upset about the carbon footprint of that gas-powered engine, but the rest of us are just grateful it was running. You can read more about the Amish kidnapping attempt and how federal authorities got involved in the days that followed.
Davila-Moran now faces a stack of charges including attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, simple assault, terroristic threats, and more. He is currently sitting in Lancaster County Prison waiting for a preliminary hearing. On October 19, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer on him.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Davila-Moran is a Guatemalan national living in the United States illegally. He was residing in New Jersey before allegedly driving to rural Pennsylvania to prey on an Amish woman doing yard work. This is exactly the kind of story the open-borders crowd would prefer you never hear about.
The good news is that the woman is safe, the suspect is behind bars, and ICE is on the case. The bad news is that years of Democrats treating border security like an inconvenient suggestion created the conditions for stories like this one. A weed whacker saved the day this time. That is not a border policy.
