Barbara Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, cut a $2,500 check to a political action committee backing James Talarico, the Democratic candidate running for U.S. Senate in Texas against Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton. Federal Election Commission records don’t lie, folks.
Barb’s last name shouldn’t be Bush anymore. May as well change it to Barbara The Globalist. Her donation to a Democrat really makes you wonder why that family hates us so much.
The donation showed up in the third-quarter 2026 report for Lone Star Rising PAC, dated September 23. So yes, a Bush, of that Bush family, is sending money to help elect a Democrat in Texas. Let that sink in for a second, then when you realize what a traitor she is to the GOP, kick the sink back outside where it belongs.
Political attorney and campaign finance expert Andrew Cates pointed out something worth chewing on: she didn’t have to do this out in the open. “I would imagine that somebody in such a prominent political family, if she wanted to ensure that her contribution was anonymous or not visible, that any number of lawyers that they probably have at their disposal could have told her how,” Cates said. “She didn’t give it to a [501](c)(4), in which her contribution would have been completely anonymous. She gave it to a PAC that reports all the money in and out.” In other words, if she wanted to hide it, she could have. She didn’t. Make of that what you will.
Cates was also quick to put the dollar figure in perspective, noting that in a race that has seen hundreds of millions raised, twenty-five hundred bucks is a rounding error. It’s not like Elon Musk money, obviously,” he said, but added it is “interesting and maybe potentially a little bit telling on where the center GOP establishment is leaning and where they feel like the race is headed.” So the political class is reading tea leaves out of a $2,500 PAC donation. That’s where we are in 2026.
The Bush family did not immediately respond to a request for comment, which is a very dignified way to handle the awkward situation of your kid funding the other team. You can check out Barbara Bush PAC donation FEC records for the full campaign finance details straight from the original reporting.
As for the race itself, most polling shows Talarico and Paxton either statistically tied or with a slight Talarico lead. Ken Paxton, who has spent years as one of the most aggressive conservative attorneys general in the country, is now in a real fight on his hands in a state Republicans have held for decades.
The Bush family has had a complicated relationship with the Trump era of the GOP, so nobody should be completely shocked that one of them ended up on a different page. But it’s still a headline. Democrats will celebrate this as a major symbolic win, because when your entire platform isn’t selling, you take your victories where you can get them, even if it’s twenty-five hundred dollars and a famous last name.
But, if you’re like me, then you just know the Bush family is like a Democrat in a GOP suit. I really don’t know why they’d do this unless someone tapped them on the shoulder and told them they have to. That’s how globalists work.
