Mullin Destroys Kathy Hochul for Defending Career Criminal With 11 Charges

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin went on Fox News Sunday and called out New York Governor Kathy Hochul and other sanctuary politicians for defending a repeat criminal alien while staying silent when an NYPD officer was stabbed seven times.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin went on Fox News Sunday and absolutely unloaded on New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the rest of the sanctuary city crowd after an ICE agent shot a criminal alien during a pursuit in New York City. Host Shannon Bream gave him the floor, and he used every inch of it.

Hochul had demanded that Mullin issue an order preventing ICE agents from firing into vehicles. Mullin had a better idea: maybe start by explaining why their sanctuary policies let these guys roam free in the first place. He pointed out that when an NYPD officer was stabbed seven times in the Bronx just last week, the Governor, the Mayor, and the whole sanctuary politician brigade didn’t say a single word. No press conference, no protest, nothing.

For more on the ICE shooting in New York, the full exchange lays out exactly how these politicians pick and choose their outrage depending on who the victim is.

Then Mullin read out the rap sheet of Oscar Belgal, the illegal alien at the center of the shooting. Belgal had been in the country just three years and somehow managed to rack up four felony robbery charges, two assault charges, felony larceny, misdemeanor assault, weapons possession, larceny, possession of stolen property, two felony drug charges, and a strong gang affiliation. Oh, and ICE had already put a detainer on him, which was cheerfully ignored so he could be released back onto the streets.

They are out there protesting for this guy, and he’s only been in the country for three years, and he has this extensive background, and they were all three released by the Biden administration,” Mullin said. That last part is worth letting sink in. Biden’s crew cut these guys loose, and now Hochul is mad that ICE came to clean up the mess.

Mullin made clear his agency isn’t in the business of writing laws. “We don’t make the laws. We simply enforce the laws. We don’t pick and choose, but we are out there every single day trying to keep criminals off our streets that sanctuary states and sanctuary cities release,” he said. Congress passed the laws, ICE enforces them, and somehow that’s the controversial part.

Mullin also confirmed that DHS will cooperate with the investigation into the shooting incident. The investigation will move forward, and New York’s sanctuary politicians will keep doing what they do best: holding press conferences for criminals and staying quiet about the cops who get stabbed protecting the same neighborhoods they’ve made dangerous. Funny how that works.
