President Donald Trump said Saturday he will not accept Iran’s latest offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting the proposed terms as inadequate and dismissing a separate Iranian bid for a seven-day ceasefire.
“I reject their proposal,” Trump said. He added that Iran was pushing for a quick agreement because it was losing ground, but that the specific terms on the table were a non-starter.

“They want to make a deal where they open the strait immediately because they’re losing so badly,” Trump said. “They want to make a deal, and I think that’s fine. I like making a deal too, but that deal would not be acceptable.”
Ceasefire Offer Also Turned Down
Beyond the Strait of Hormuz question, Trump also rejected Iran’s push for a seven-day ceasefire. No further details about the terms of that proposal were immediately available.
The twin rejections signal that the two countries remain far apart on the conditions for any negotiated resolution. With Iran’s offers now formally turned away, pressure will mount on both sides to define what terms, if any, could form the basis for future talks.
