Ashley Biden threatened to sue former Democratic fundraiser Lindy Li after Li went public with accounts of a cover-up surrounding Joe Biden’s cognitive and political decline during the 2024 presidential race, Li says in her new book and in interviews.
Li, who switched her party affiliation after warning signs about Biden’s condition went unheeded by party leadership, told Fox News Digital that Ashley Biden posted the threat on Instagram in February of last year. “They wanted to scare me. That was the goal,” Li said.
Ashley Biden’s Instagram Post and What It Said
Li details the episode in her book, “Unburdened,” quoting Ashley Biden’s post directly. “Ashley later threatened to sue me for saying there was a cover-up of her father’s decline, lashing out on Instagram with a bravado so crude it bordered on parody: ‘This woman is a bonavide [sic] liar. Karma is a real bad b, , , Lindy,'” Li wrote.
The post continued: “‘I don’t know you but can’t wait to meet your a, in court. Ready for a lawsuit? Let’s go! I won’t put up with this BS anymore.'” Li said the post was taken down within a day. She shared screenshots of it with Fox News Digital as documentation.
Li also found the claim that Ashley Biden did not know her hard to believe. The two had met on multiple occasions, and Li provided photographs of them together as evidence. “Doesn’t even pass the smell test,” Li said. The Price Li Says She Paid for Speaking Out
As a senior fundraiser for both Biden and Kamala Harris, Li had regular access to top donors, party leadership and the Democratic National Committee. She says that access evaporated the moment she called publicly for Biden to withdraw from the race.
When I went on Shannon’s show to say Biden needs to step aside, and three hours later he did, my access immediately vanished and all my fears about speaking up were justified,” Li told Fox News Digital. “I knew that if I spoke up my life would be ruined and frankly, in that respect, it was. I was never invited to the White House again, never spoke to Biden again. Prior to that, I was invited to the White House every two to three weeks.
What Li’s Lawyers Said About a Potential Court Fight
When Li brought the threat to her legal team, her attorneys were not concerned about her exposure. Instead, they saw a potential lawsuit as an opportunity. “My lawyer’s eyes lit up: ‘You want her to sue you. The discovery would be incredible,'” Li recalled. “Truth, after all, remains the strongest shield against defamation.”
Li said the fact that no lawsuit ever materialized reinforces her position. “Everything I said was true so I’m still waiting to hear exactly what I said that is legally actionable,” she said. Representation for Ashley Biden did not respond to a request for comment.
