Trump To Issue Another Order Directing Civilian DHS Staff Be Paid Since Democrats Won’t

Democrats allowed Congress to be gavelled out of session for their two-week Easter recess without helping Republicans pass funding for ICE and Border Patrol civilian employees, proving once again they don’t care how many Americans they have to hurt to gain even a modicum of power.

President Trump seems to be bracing for another legislative stalemate, even though congressional Republicans have a plan to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, which has been shut down since mid-February. This situation has been created by Democrats. The key agency has faced challenges during Operation Epic Fury, among other issues. While Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol are funded through the Big Beautiful Bill, this only covers frontline agents; the civilian staff is still going unpaid.

Trump instructed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to use funds from last year’s tax cut bill to pay TSA agents. As a result, those staff members are finally receiving their pay, leading to shorter airport security lines. Additionally, ICE agents have been deployed at airports to assist with screening. Now, a similar directive may be issued for civilian staffers at ICE and CBP, according to a new memo from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):

According to a memo that OMB sent to Congress, it appears the White House plans to take “additional executive action” to pay civilian support employees at ICE & CBP via the OBBB since they aren’t being paid now and won’t be paid through appropriations because the Senate DHS bill… pic.twitter.com/fnrjOsM9do

The Republicans made a significant mistake by assuming they could gain Democratic votes for a standard DHS funding measure this winter. But Democrats are unhinged, and their base is insane. There was no willingness among any of them, save for Fetterman, to compromise on this issue. This was evident when they proposed a split bill—funding DHS without ICE and CBP—which Democrats were initially interested in but ultimately backed out of at the last minute. This situation highlights the current state of that party and reinforces the idea that we may need to eliminate the legislative filibuster to pass additional funding measures, the SAVE America Act, and other top priorities of the MAGA agenda without further obstruction from Schumer and his group of losers.

I’m beyond ready to nuke the filibuster. Thune, though, is still spineless, and there are a few too many RINOs in the upper chamber to allow it. Some of them won’t be back next January, but frankly, if we lose the House because Trump is too laser-focused on another Mideast war rather than making life more affordable for Americans, it won’t matter.

Time to wrap that up and get back to fixing our problems.
