President Trump began his busy Wednesday by hinting at potential good news regarding Iran and the ongoing military action by the United States, which has now entered its second month. In a post on Truth Social, the president stated that “Iran’s new regime president” has requested a ceasefire, something he said he would consider “when the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and clear.”
In the meantime, until the Strait is reopened, Trump said: “We are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!”
The identity of the new “regime president,” with whom productive talks appear to be happening, is still somewhat unclear. However, President Trump described this potential peacemaker as “much less radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors.”

Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!! President DJT
It appears that Iran has not yet issued an official response to President Trump’s post suggesting that a ceasefire might be on the horizon. However, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth offered a playful reaction to Trump’s message:

On Tuesday evening, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that Tehran is prepared to continue fighting. “You cannot speak to the people of Iran in the language of threats and deadlines,” he said. “We do not set any deadline for defending ourselves.”
The cautious optimism expressed by Trump, though accompanied by clear threats of serious consequences if the situation in the Strait of Hormuz isn’t properly handled, occurs in the context of a wider discussion about the increasing divide between the U.S. and its supposed allies in NATO.
