We’ve been hearing for years that Iran is “just weeks away from having a nuclear weapon.” We heard that again last summer when President Trump sent a flight of B-2 bombers with bunker-busting munitions into the heart of the Islamic republic undetected and blew nuclear facilities to smithereens.
Apparently, Iran must have moved whatever nuclear materials it had enriched because we were told the same thing again, by Trump and his administration, just a few weeks ago before U.S. and Israeli forces began bombing Iran back to the Stone Age.
Now it seems as though Trump has finally gotten the mullahs – what’s left of them – to give up on their nuclear weapons fantasy which, if true, is a massive victory not only for our commander-in-chief but for the world.
On Tuesday, Trump spoke from the White House at the swearing-in ceremony for Markwayne Mullin, the new head of the Department of Homeland Security. During the event, he told reporters that Iran had agreed to abandon its aspirations for nuclear weapons. He mentioned this rather casually, but it would indeed be significant news.
“It [the potential end of the conflict] starts with no nuclear weapons, and they’ve agreed to that, he said, adding: “There won’t be any nuclear weapons.” He also said “they’re not going to have enrichment” either.
WATCH:
PRESIDENT TRUMP: There won’t be any nuclear weapons. Iran has agreed to that.
We’re in a good bargaining position. We’re way ahead of schedule and they have no navy, air force, or missile protection. Most of their launches we’ve killed. pic.twitter.com/FbwVcC6MND

It’s unclear with whom the president has been negotiating, but many analysts speculate that it is Iran’s Parliament speaker, Mohammad Baqher Ghalibaf. The president also discussed the possibility of ending hostilities with Iran and emphasized that he does not want to destroy their power facilities if it can be avoided:
Look, if we can end this without more lives being down, without knocking out $10 billion electric plants, that are brand new, and the apple of their eye, [we] might like to be able to do that, you know?
Look, I hate to say that we’re in a very good bargaining position, and I hate to say that they’re defenseless, because, you know, until that last missile is fired, they have a little power, but we are in about the best bargaining position.
We’re way ahead of schedule. And again, they have no Navy, and they have no Air Force, and they have no missile protection, and most of their missiles are gone. Most of their launches we’ve killed. You know, we’ve killed about 82% of their launchers. So even if they had a missile, they can’t launch it.
In short, we’ve basically won the conflict at this point:
President Trump: “We’ve won this — this war has been won. The only one that likes to keep it going is the fake news. I mean, The New York Times. You read The New York Times. It’s like we’re not winning a war where they have no navy and they have no air force, and they have no… pic.twitter.com/wPnAoxSURc

It’s like we’re not winning a war where they have no navy and they have no air force, and they have no nothing. And we literally have planes flying over Tehran and other parts of their country. They can’t do a thing about it. For instance, if I want to take down that power plant, that very big, powerful power plant, they can’t do a thing about it. It’s like, take me. That’s all they can do. And yet, if you read The New York Times or if you watch ABC fake news or NBC fake news, you’d say it’s a close battle. It’s not a close battle. They’re totally defeated.
But wait, as they say, there’s more! Trump also mentioned that the Iranians gave him a “big present” on Monday night. He did not disclose what it was, but suggested that it was extremely valuable and related to oil and gas:
Trump on Iran:
They gave us a big present worth a tremendous amount of money; it arrived today.
It was oil and gas related.

If it turns out that Iran is willing to abandon its extreme pursuit of acquiring a nuclear weapon, the world would become a much safer place. However, they are not particularly known for their honesty. Ultimately, only time will tell.
