Delta Air Lines has taken away a convenient VIP perk for members of Congress, and they can thank Chuck Schumer and the Democrats for it. The Atlanta-based airline has suspended its dedicated congressional desk service. As a result, lawmakers will no longer receive special treatment and will have to navigate TSA security lines and the usual travel challenges like the everyday Americans they represent.
“Due to the impact on resources from the longstanding government shutdown, Delta will temporarily suspend specialty services to members of Congress flying Delta,” a statement from the airline reads.
“Next to safety, Delta’s No. 1 priority is taking care of our people and customers, which has become increasingly difficult in the current environment,” the statement continued.

The partial government shutdown, which was initiated by Democrats who refuse to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) out of resentment towards ICE for doing its job in protecting the American people, has now lasted 39 days.
During this time, unpaid TSA officers have been quitting in large numbers, and spring break travelers are facing hours-long delays at checkpoints, all due to the Democrats’ stubbornness regarding funding. Meanwhile, Congress continues to receive their paychecks and enjoy the benefits of their positions.
That is starting to change, at least in terms of some perks. Delta’s recent move is a much-needed step towards holding accountable those in Congress who have contributed to this situation. Bravo to them for taking action.
