Trump Lays Down the Law With Spineless Republicans: NO DHS Deal Until SAVE Act Passes

President Trump is showing no signs of backing down or compromising, insisting that Republicans must not give in on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding without first putting pressure on the Democrats regarding the vital SAVE America Act.

In a passionate post on Truth Social late Sunday night, the President took aim at spineless Republicans and the “country-destroying” resistance party that is currently holding the DHS hostage.

He firmly stated that there will be no agreement—none at all—until the Democrats agree to pass this essential election integrity measure, which mandates proof of citizenship and photo ID for voting.

Trump made it abundantly clear that he’s prepared to let the chaos of a government shutdown—which he blames on the Democrats and their consistent opposition—continue for as long as it takes.

“I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they vote with Republicans to pass ‘THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,'” he wrote. “It is far more important than anything else we are doing in the Senate …”

Trump vehemently rejected any deal that proposes cuts to ICE, even if they are hidden, insisting that such concessions are unacceptable unless they are paired with the complete SAVE America Act. Additionally, the President is advocating for a strong stance on issues like men competing in women’s sports and the controversial practices surrounding gender transition for children.

Remarkably, all of these positions—yes, all of them—enjoy widespread support among the American public, transcending party lines as well as racial and demographic boundaries.

Trump suggested that any Republicans who oppose these measures should “never be elected again.” He also urged Senate leaders to “kill the filibuster” and ensure the work gets done, even if it means staying in Washington, D.C., through the Easter holiday if necessary.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has thus far cast the only GOP vote against the SAVE America Act, which in and of itself is sickening, considering she voted in favor of a Democrat voting reform bill in 2021.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) addressed the Senate floor over the weekend, highlighting numerous flaws in the Democratic Party’s arguments against the SAVE America Act.

“They [Democrats] say, ‘Well, it’s [voting] a constitutionally-protected right. Darn right it is! And it’s our job to make sure that that’s protected,” Lee said. “But the fact that it’s a constitutionally-protected right in no way, shape, or form means that we have to make it easy to vote, and screw the rest. Let’s let them cheat.”

That is exactly why the opposition is fiercely opposing legislation that a vast majority of Americans consider to be common sense. They are unwilling to see regular citizens gain easier access to voting while also making it more difficult for dishonest individuals (Democrats, that is) to manipulate our elections.

Senate Democrats have blocked a House-passed bill to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the fifth time since the shutdown began on February 14th. They continue to hold the funding hostage to push their demands regarding illegal immigrants, whom they consider their greatest asset, even as airport chaos worsens and frontline workers go unpaid.

As President Trump noted in a social media post over the weekend, the radical left poses “the greatest enemy America has,” with no close second.

Trump has also suggested that if the Senate fails to pass the SAVE America Act, he will consider issuing an executive order to enforce strict voter ID requirements nationwide, promising that this will happen before the 2026 midterm elections.

“Republicans must put this at the top of every speech — It is a CAN’T MISS FOR RE-ELECTION IN THE MIDTERMS, AND BEYOND!” the President insisted.

While such an executive order mandating voter ID would immediately get bogged down in federal courts, one thing is certain: Americans heavily favor a voter ID and proof of citizenship requirement. It’s not even close; and this includes the vast majority of Democrat voters.

“Voter ID is NOT controversial in this country. A photo ID to vote is NOT controversial in this country. It is not controversial by party, and it is not controversial by race,” CNN data guru Harry Enten recently explained. “The vast majority of Americans agree.”

Americans agree with Nicki Minaj when it comes to voter id.

83% of favor photo voter id to vote per Pew. This includes 70%+ of Democrats and Republicans, as well as 75%+ of Americans across races…. White, Black, and Latino.

In a rational world, a bill like the SAVE America Act would quickly pass through both chambers of Congress and reach the President’s desk in no time. Unfortunately, it faces obstacles from Democrats who prefer to let fraud go unchecked and from Republicans who often struggle to take a stand against it. As a result, the President continually has to emphasize why this issue is critical for the country.

His passionate posts on social media can only do so much. Is there no other leader who can help push this forward?

Trump is determined not to back down, and Senate Republicans should stand firm alongside him.
