The family of Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old freshman at Loyola University Chicago who was tragically shot near the campus by an illegal immigrant, issued a strong condemnation of anyone who implies that she contributed to her own death by being in the “wrong place at the wrong time.”
Their response comes after Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden suggested that Gorman and her friends may have inadvertently startled the armed suspect.
“The kids were out doing normal things people do in the neighborhood,” Hadden told Fox 32. “They may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, running into a person who had a gun.”
“They might have unintentionally startled this person at the end of the pier,” she added. “We don’t believe there is cause for broader community concern.”
Once again, for the liberals out there, the suspect is 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina of Venezuela, one of millions let into the country during Joe Biden’s reign of terror.

That’s got to be one of the most infuriating things a Democrat has said to justify the murder of a constituent and citizen by an illegal alien. They just happened to run into an armed individual who was minding his own business? Really? He shouldn’t be in any area of this country at all—period. Ms. Hadden, aren’t you curious about how an illegal alien is allowed to hang out at the end of a pier with a weapon? Are you even aware that it is illegal for any unauthorized immigrant to possess a firearm in the United States?
The community should definitely be concerned, especially if they are represented by morons like Hadden.
The Gorman family has rejected any suggestion that Sheridan is responsible for the violent act allegedly committed by the illegal alien, who now faces first-degree murder charges. They are understandably angry.
“What Sheridan was doing that night—walking with friends near her campus—was normal. It was safe. It is what students do every day. We will not allow this to be dismissed as ‘wrong place, wrong time.’ This was not random misfortune,” they fired back in a statement. “This was a violent and preventable act.”
They are not only thoroughly disgusted with the alderwoman’s assertion, but they also criticize Democratic policies that protect illegal immigrants and allow repeat offenders to continue roaming the same streets as innocent, law-abiding Americans.
“We are gravely disappointed by the policies and failures that allowed this individual to remain in a position to commit this crime,” Gorman’s family said. “When systems fail—whether through release decisions, lack of coordination, or unwillingness to act—the consequences are not abstract. They are real. And in our case, they are permanent.”

Medina-Medina allegedly approached a group while masked and armed, firing as Gorman and her friends attempted to flee. Unsurprisingly, it has been reported that he was released multiple times under President Biden’s administration.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Medina-Medina was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on May 9, 2023, and subsequently released into the country under the Biden administration’s policies. He was later released again on June 19, 2023, following a shoplifting arrest in Chicago due to local sanctuary policies.
He now faces charges including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon. When will the lawmakers who create the infrastructure that allows illegal immigrants to commit heinous crimes against Americans be held accountable? Or at the very least, sued for everything they’ve got and will ever have for abject negligence?
