Robert Mueller, the former FBI Director who led the high-profile special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and potential coordination with the Trump campaign, passed away on Friday at the age of 81.
Mueller was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the summer of 2021, as revealed by his family. This progressive illness had visibly affected him in recent years, leading to difficulties with speaking and mobility. As a result, he was forced to cancel planned congressional testimony as recently as last year.
As of now, no specific cause of death has been publicly disclosed.
“With deep sadness, we are sharing the news that Bob passed away last night,” a statement from the family reads, according to the New York Times. “His family asks that their privacy be respected.”

At times, Robert Mueller was praised by the left for his extensive investigations into the alleged Russia collusion during President Trump’s first term. However, he also became a target of ridicule after the release of his report and a particularly challenging congressional hearing in 2019, where he struggled to meet expectations and failed to reveal any significant conspiratorial evidence.
During the hearing, Mueller appeared hesitant and tired, often having difficulty keeping up with the proceedings. This led to criticism even from some members of the left, who had hoped that his public testimony would highlight key findings from his famous report. While the Mueller report concluded that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election, it did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government.
Mueller’s two-year investigation cost over $30 million in taxpayer funds and did not uncover any conspiracy or coordination. Although the probe led to several convictions—primarily for process-related crimes that were unrelated to collusion—it ultimately failed to provide the explosive evidence many in the media and political circles had anticipated. In the end, it was deemed a costly failure — but it was destined to fail because the Trump-Russia ‘collusion’ narrative was always a BS lie concocted by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
President Trump, who often criticized Mueller’s probe as a hoax or “witch hunt,” showed zero interest in making amends in a Truth Social post upon hearing about Mueller’s passing.
“Robert Mueller just died,” he wrote his platform “Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!”

While that may seem overly harsh and insensitive to some, we have to remember what Mueller & Co. did to Trump, then a sitting president, as a card-carrying member of the Deep State. Not only did he attempt to saddle Trump with a false allegation, but the goal was to ruin Trump’s life and presidency and, certainly, get him sentenced to prison for the rest of his life.
Can’t speak for anyone else, but if I were in Trump’s shoes and that happened to me, 100 percent I’d still be royally bitter at the perpetrators of such a damaging hoax.
