New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani (Communist) is upset—some might even say he’s enraged.

Is it the sky-high cost of living in the city? The visible homelessness and decline in residents’ quality of life? Or perhaps the rampant crime and a justice system that allows violent repeat offenders back on the streets?

No, none of these issues are what has Mamdani so furious. He is particularly outraged by the order of deportation for a City Council employee who overstayed his tourist visa in 2017, lacks work authorization, and reportedly has an arrest record.

A federal immigration judge ruled on Wednesday that Rafael Rubio Bohorquez, a New York City Council data analyst who was detained by ICE during a routine appointment in January, must be deported to Venezuela after his asylum application was deemed abandoned.

Although Venezuela is currently without Nicolás Maduro and just won the World Baseball Classic (thanks, Trump!), Mamdani fails to see any positive aspects in this situation. When faced with challenges, he is supposedly a man of action. However, instead of taking significant steps, he tightly clenched his fist like a character from an Arthur cartoon and proceeded to rage on X about the judge’s decision.

“This is an affront to justice,” he wrote. “A dedicated public servant with legal authorization to remain in the country, Rafael showed up for a routine immigration appointment and, despite following the rules, he was detained and has now been held for months.”

He went on to demand the illegal immigrant criminal’s release.

Today, an administrative immigration judge ordered the deportation of Rafael Rubio, a City Council employee.

Is this an affront to justice? To quote the legendary Inigo Montoya, I do not think it means what you think it means. The dude clearly did not follow the rules when it was important.

An affront to justice would be thinking you can overstay your visa for nearly nine years, secure a high-ranking government job, and have an alleged arrest record without facing any consequences.

Interestingly, the person Mamdani is very protective of had been previously arrested for assault. Although the case was later dismissed and removed from his record, it raises questions.

Despite the dismissal, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not accept the narrative of a ‘dedicated public servant.’ They issued a statement praising the federal judge’s decision to deport the criminal illegal alien.

“Today, an immigration judge ordered Rafael Andres Rubio Bohorquez, a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and an employee of New York’s City Council a final order of removal. His criminal history includes an arrest for assault,” the statement reads. “This ruling is a victory for the rule of law. ICE will work as quickly as possible to return this criminal to his home country.”

Goodbye, Felicia. Don’t let the door hit your you-know-what on your way out. It seems that violating the laws of a sovereign nation is the real injustice here.

In a rational world, there would be an investigation into what City Council members knew about their data analyst’s immigration status and whether he was hired despite being an undocumented criminal. However, New York City is not, by anyone’s definition, a rational place.

New York City Council members are instead uniting to oppose the deportation. Council Speaker Julie Menin (D) stated that the council will resist the “cruel” and “inhumane” decision to deport Bohorquez. Because of course it is; Democrats always take the 20 side of an 80-20 immigration issue.

“Raphael should be released immediately. This is an outrageous decision by the judge. There’s no justification for continuing to detain him,” Menin told reporters. “We will continue fighting, as we have every single day in the courts and beyond, until this is corrected.”

There are actually numerous justifications for this situation. One has to wonder if these people would stand up and fight as passionately for any true victim of illegal immigration in New York City. This is, of course, a rhetorical question. The city that never sleeps is suffering due to failed liberal policies, and the one thing this group unites around is a criminal who has no right to be in the country, let alone working for them.
