This is the type of news that brings joy, as it shows the government taking action on issues that many voters supported when re-electing President Trump: eliminating the potential harmful collaboration between far-left progressive nonprofit groups and the domestic terror organizations, like Antifa, that they financially support.

Readers may recall from former President Biden’s time in office when Democrats repeatedly argued that the widespread mob violence and the chaotic destruction of businesses and federal properties during the 2020 Summer of Love were the responsibility of state and local authorities in blue cities and states. They asserted, without evidence, that they were making strides in upholding law and order without federal law enforcement’s assistance.

If Trump 47 gets his way, that will no longer be the case.

CBS News reporters Sarah Lynch and Jennifer Jacobs were the first to cover the administration’s new initiative on Wednesday, and if their reporting is accurate, it appears to be a significant shift toward cutting off the seemingly endless funding source for the Left that underpins this unrest:

The report indicated that a new comprehensive initiative by the Trump 47 agencies originated with Attorney General Pam Bondi’s December 2025 memo, which is based on a presidential executive order. This order instructs U.S. federal law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies to focus their full efforts on “groups and individuals” within the country involved in Antifa activities, or considered ‘extremist'”:

FBI and IRS agents are forming a new initiative to investigate nonprofit organizations over suspected possible links to domestic terrorism, sources briefed on the matter told CBS News.

In December, Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to prioritize efforts to investigate and prosecute groups and individuals who belong to the anti-fascist antifa movement or are deemed “extremist.”

In part, Bondi’s memo says:

“These domestic terrorists use violence or the threat of violence to advance political and social agendas, including opposition to law and immigration enforcement; extreme views in favor of mass migration and open borders; adherence to radical gender ideology, anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, or anti-Christianity.”

The CBS News report went on:

The FBI was also ordered to develop a list of groups that are engaged in acts that “may constitute domestic terrorism,” as defined by federal law.

Such individuals or groups are, according to the law, involved in “acts dangerous to human life” that occur within the U.S. and may be intended to intimidate or coerce people, influence government policy through intimidation or affect the conduct of the government “by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping.”

One source laid out how the team will work together:

The new “mission control command center” that is probing nonprofits will be based at the FBI, with agents from IRS Criminal Investigation working on one-year temporary assignments, one of the sources added.

In addition, the report said that there will be coordination on this effort between the deputy attorney general and state attorneys general:

…[T]he deputy attorney general’s office has also been involved in creating a task force focused on looking into funding into antifa-linked groups, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter.

U.S. attorney offices, meanwhile, have also been asked to assign a domestic terrorism coordinator, one of the sources added.

So far, it has been uncommon for cases to be brought against Antifa or its members. As mentioned in the linked article, there is currently no specific law addressing terrorist organizations operating on U.S. soil or domestic terrorism. However, there have been successful prosecutions in this area, such as the convictions of nine alleged members of an Antifa cell who attacked the Prairieland ICE facility in Texas in 2025.

As FBI Director Kash Patel noted – and pledged:

Today justice prevailed. Terrorists who target our agents will face the full force of federal law. We will continue dismantling violent extremist networks and the funding pipelines that support them.
