The Tim Walz Fraud Saga Continues As Minn. Legislature Moves To Completely Eliminate Program

What is shaping up to be a complicated situation, akin to a Gordian knot that leaves traces of currency ink as you attempt to sort through it, Minnesota’s issues with fraud are continually unfolding. The sheer scale of corruption being uncovered in this single state can be overwhelming; if you consider this across 49 other states, the flood of numbers will inundate your mind like scenes from The Matrix films.

In the most recent development, the Minnesota State House has voted to completely eliminate an assistance program — the Minnesota Housing Stabilization Services (MHSS) — from state laws. The issues were so widespread that the House unanimously decided to erase this program from the legal framework. Approval in the state Senate is anticipated, as that chamber was preparing its own legislation to achieve a similar outcome.

Examining this program alone reveals the deep levels of fraud that have grown under the tenure of Tim Walz. There is substantial evidence suggesting this operation was not only functioning during his leadership but that the theft was thriving, primarily due to a lack of vigilant oversight.

It was in the spring of last year when local affiliate KARE Channel 11 News began bringing to light the fraud and waste associated with this program. Consequently, once the issue was exposed, the fraudsters quickly fled, and the program stopped making disbursements by Halloween. This change was necessary. Once more rational perspectives started examining MHSS, it was revealed to be a scheme for grift. Picture initiating a housing initiative only to see it quickly degenerating into a scenario reminiscent of the homes featured on the television series “Hoarders.”

This is the exact kind of localized fraud that bears the signatures of Walz. Created less than six years ago, MHSS was intended to assist seniors and people with disabilities in maintaining their homes or locating new ones. The initially projected expenses were expected to be in the range of $2.5-3 million. However, in just four years, the program skyrocketed to over $100 million. The fact that this could happen without any oversight from the government reveals much about the accommodating environment fraudsters found in this state.

In one example of how fertile the ground for scammers had become in Minnesota, two men from Philadelphia were caught trying to establish businesses specifically to exploit a particular government program. Governor Walz and his administration cannot simply pass the blame onto federal authorities to evade responsibility; this was a Minnesota-created and state-run operation.

The governor appears complicit in his actions over the past few weeks. He recently appeared before Congress to answer for these instances of fraud, which are emerging like maggots when you lift a carpet in a slaughterhouse. During the questioning, Walz struggled to articulate his responses and seemed flustered. The scrutiny he faced was so intense that, had he been a ribeye steak, any diner would have sent the dish back to the kitchen for a fresh cut.

In an attempt to clear his name, but which ultimately made him appear more guilty, Walz proposed what he referred to as a comprehensive anti-fraud package. This initiative was aimed at addressing the billions of taxpayer dollars being misappropriated in his state. He introduced this package only a few weeks ago. He said at the time:

“Any dollar of state money, especially those being used for programs to enhance people’s lives, if that goes to the wrong place, is misspent, or in the case of this, criminals are stealing it, we need to do everything possible to prosecute that.”

This is nothing more than Governor Walz trying to make a show of action after he has already closed the barn door after the cattle have all long since scattered. The timing of his press conference, held just a day after the federal government cut off funding for Minnesota’s Medicaid programs, seems to be a desperate attempt to project that he is taking action.

The bill that the state house passed is part of the package proposed by Walz, even though the program was shut down months ago. This vote effectively eliminates the bill from the books and prevents it from being reinstated. Any future efforts to provide similar relief for the legitimate recipients will require the drafting of an entirely new bill.

The level of fraud observed in this snow-bound state highlights the urgent need for the new Fraud Task Force established by President Trump to tackle the issue of scams nationwide. JD Vance will chair this team, but he risks facing a challenge similar to that of Kamala Harris, albeit for entirely different reasons.

While Harris demonstrated a lack of effort on illegal immigration during her tenure as the Border Czar, Vance faces a contrasting dilemma: the tasks at hand may require Herculean efforts to achieve measurable results. Although he has the potential for significant success in combating fraud, the extensive nature of this nationwide scandal will make it difficult to recognize and celebrate positive outcomes.
