A new report has revealed that Google’s email service, Gmail, has selectively prioritized campaign communications from Democrats over those from Republicans. As a result, a significantly larger number of Republican messages are being filtered into spam folders. This bias from Big Tech could hinder Republicans’ ability to stay in regular contact with their supporters, while giving Democrats a clear advantage in voter engagement.
Our first inboxing report is live, confirming a serious spam filter bias against Republican fundraising emails compared to Democrat emails.https://t.co/hZhKrBesIU

Gmail flagged this @NRSC email as dangerous.
"This could be used to steal your personal information."
"This link would open… which has hosted phishing sites before."

A recent study conducted by Inbox.GOP analyzed over 12,000 emails from political operations of both parties and found that more than half of the GOP emails were marked as spam. The findings indicated that during a 90-day timeframe, 64 percent of communications from Democrats landed directly in inboxes, whereas only 46 percent of Republican communications did, highlighting a nearly 20 percent disparity between the two parties.
In the final week of the analysis, the divide became even more pronounced, with nearly 60 percent of GOP emails being filtered out, while 70 percent of Democrat emails reached recipients’ inboxes.
The suppression has gone well beyond just voter outreach. Additional information revealed by Inbox.GOP shows that Google has cautioned users against clicking on fundraising links to WinRed, which is the GOP’s alternative to ActBlue and one of the most widely used fundraising platforms for Republican candidates. When some users tried to access a fundraising link sent out by the NRSC, they received warnings that it was a “dangerous link” leading to a site that “could be used to steal your personal information” and “has hosted phishing sites before.”
“This is exactly why the NRSC called for an investigation into Google’s speech suppression of conservatives,” said NRSC Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez. “Hindering Republicans’ ability to contact and engage our voters is detrimental to democracy and cannot continue.”
In 2025, leaders of the GOP campaign committee urged the FTC to investigate Google’s practice of prioritizing Democrat communications over those of Republicans, stating, “Google’s speech suppression practices are detrimental to American democracy and should not be allowed to persist for another election cycle.”
Obviously, Google hasn’t paid out enough of its fortune in lawsuits. Time to change that.
