In case you haven’t heard, Ric Grenell, a loyalist to Donald Trump who has been given a range of duties by the president over the course of his first and now second term, is stepping down as head of the Trump Kennedy Center in a couple weeks.
Garbage media outlets immediately tried to paint his departure as Trump World falling apart. But the president was equally quick to praise Grenell’s work thus far to improve the place:
“Ric Grenell has done an excellent job in helping to coordinate various elements of the Center during the transition period, and I want to thank him for the outstanding work he has done,” Trump wrote. The Kennedy Center did not provide additional comment about Grenell’s departure.
Grenell went on to explain the mess that the Trump administration inherited:
“The books were a mess when I walked in. We were paying staff with debt reserves, we didn’t have money in the bank,” Grenell said during an interview on Fox News in November. [….]
Trump and his new Kennedy Center team have also claimed that the center was in grave disrepair — reporting broken elevators, rat infestations and crumbling concrete in the parking garage.
The disrepair is the main reason why the center is being shuttered for two years – for renovations.
Democrats have since done what they always do: Lie to the American people about what’s really going on while letting their untreated Trump Derangement Syndrome take over their failing minds. Enter Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), who recently voted for legislation that funneled millions to a conservation non-private that pays his wife:

Grenell let this sad sack have it in a way that he’ll remember for some time:
Your buffoonery knows no limits.
You sat silent while the place went into total disrepair.
You sat silent while the staff was paid with monies designed to pay off the future $30 million loan coming due in 2030 because there was no money in the bank to pay salaries.
You sat silent while corporations left because of the hard left woke programming.
We fixed it. And we are doing the right thing to close the entire place in a few weeks to renovate it – because of your years of neglect.
This Washington game of kicking the can down the road and never solving problems has ended with President Trump.
It doesn’t matter what you or the New York Times or CNN says. We are fixing the place that YOU ruined. It becomes a construction site for two years because you failed to keep up with the maintenance.
And we have a world-class construction leader to do it the right way.

That was quite a satisfying takedown of the utterly contemptable Whitehouse, who definitely had it coming.
However, the key takeaway, as Grenell pointed out, is that when the Democrats held the reins, they let the Center fall into a state of disrepair and didn’t seem to care at all. Their current concern is purely motivated by their desire to attack Trump—it’s the driving force behind everything they do, even when it comes to something that should be non-political, like the Center.
If Joe Biden were in charge, they’d likely fall back into complacency and ignore the issue once again.
