We’ve seen candidates implode while running for president, but it’s hard to recall someone who hasn’t even officially declared yet, falling apart as much as California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom has. To be honest, he is not exactly facing tough questions as he travels on his book tour to boost his national profile. We even witnessed Katie Couric asking him about how good-looking he is—there’s ” muh journalism” for ya, huh, Katie?
That being said, he still struggles with basic questions. He faced backlash in Georgia when he told a Black mayor, “I’m just like you,” then proceeded to share that he scored 960 on his SAT and couldn’t read from a speech. He lost his composure and cursed at Sean Hannity for asking him a question. Furthermore, Newsom’s team responded aggressively when a reporter inquired about his dyslexia diagnosis, telling her to “f**k off.”
He seems to think that attacking President Donald Trump is how he can demonstrate he’s “presidential.” But honestly, that just makes him appear desperate and look like every other Democrat.
When he was asked about his goals in preparation for a potential run in 2028, his response illustrated why he should never be allowed to step foot in the Oval Office as leader of the free world. Adam Friedland asked him about his political aspirations and what he hopes to achieve. Unfortunately, his answer was incredibly uninspired.
?NEW: Gavin Newsom CAN'T articulate *single* specific policy goal to @AdamFriedland?

What. In. The. World.
He dares to mention Mahatma Gandhi, Václav Havel, and Nelson Mandela? Those individuals had specific ideas and goals, while Newsom, on the other hand, couldn’t name even one. I must say, though, he did have about 17 different hand gestures while saying nothing substantial. It seems he just wants to invoke their “zeitgeist” as if he can ride on their legacy.
Who would fall for this? Newsom is trying to gain our support by channeling vibes from the 60s. Why would we do that when we previously rejected a similar empty-headed approach from Kamala Harris in 2024? Remember, she struggled to articulate how she would do things differently from Joe Biden, whose time in the White House was widely seen as a failure.
After a jaunt through the time machine, we found a similar incident – the same kind of wet-noodle, sack lunch, phone-it-in kind of word salad that Kamala Harris would later perfect. We bring you Sen. Ted Kennedy, who tanked his 1980 presidential bid in a rambling interview with journalist Roger Mudd:
There was a recurring question: What would you do differently from then-President and fellow Democrat Jimmy Carter? Like Kamala, he struggled to provide a solid answer. At least he wasn’t performing the wild gestures and movements that Newsom does.
This question shouldn’t be difficult; a candidate’s goals should be ingrained in their very being. We witnessed that with Trump—his focus was on fixing the border to enhance safety, and he succeeded in doing that. When you are committed, you achieve results. However, if you expect America to vote for you based solely on your charisma, they will likely move on to someone who can deliver actual outcomes.
We’ve already seen that with Gavin in California; he is not that leader.
