After the takeover of Iran by religious zealots in 1979, millions fled the country in a significant diaspora, escaping the oppressive rule of the mullahs. Can you guess where the majority of them relocated?
Los Angeles, California. In fact, some call it “Tehrangeles”:
The Greater Los Angeles area is home to the largest concentration of people of Iranian descent outside Iran. Since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, it has served as a capital for exiles. By 2019, more than half of Iranian immigrants to the U.S. lived in California, with 29% — nearly 140,000 people — living in Los Angeles County alone, according to the Migration Policy Institute.
Many fleeing Iranians settled in the Westwood neighborhood of the city, and when news broke that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed in the U.S.-Israeli strikes during the operation dubbed “Epic Fury,” crowds took to the streets on Saturday to celebrate their relief and joy.

Everyone celebrating has a unique story to share. Take my friend Dr. Houman Hemmati, for example. He’s a regular contributor to Fox News, and he recounts the poignant experience of witnessing his country’s takeover when he was just three years old.
It’s a longer tweet, but definitely worth a read; click on it to delve deeper into his story:
?? 47 years ago, I stood at a window in Tehran as a 3-year-old boy, smelling burning tires and hearing the chants that would steal my country. I didn’t have words for what was happening. Today, I am watching smoke rise over the same city — but this time the smoke is not the end… pic.twitter.com/RGFXMOaykb

Today, I am watching smoke rise over the same city — but this time the smoke is not the end of Iran. It is, God willing, the beginning of her resurrection.
Naturally, bitter has-been leftists like actress Jane Fonda have joined protests downtown against the strikes (it seems a bit late for that now, doesn’t it, Jane?), suggesting that the world was a better place when the Ayatollah was in power.
Despite her successful acting career, many people immediately think of the word “betrayal” when discussing her, largely due to her controversial actions in 1972 when she associated with North Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam War.
I appreciate Jane Fonda taking the time to come down from her multi million dollar house in the hills to tell all the Iranian people why their liberation is a bad thing pic.twitter.com/FOpo1s9KnF

If Hanoi Jane takes a stance on something, it’s for sure the opposing view is the right one.
There was another Californian who did not appreciate America demonstrating dominant strength on the world stage: progressive Governor Gavin Newsom. I refer to him as “progressive” because he has made significant strides in undermining the Golden State.
As reporter Susie Moore noted on Saturday, one reason we launched the attack when we did was intelligence indicating that Iran was about to strike American forces, which could have resulted in numerous casualties.
But to this jerk Newsom, Mr. President Wannabe, protecting your own citizens and our troops is “illegal” and “dangerous”:
The corrupt and repressive Iranian regime must never have nuclear weapons. The leadership of Iran must go. But that does not justify the President of the United States engaging in an illegal, dangerous war that will risk the lives of our American service members and our friends without justification to the American people.
President Trump is putting Americans at risk abroad because he is unpopular at home.
Couching that criticism of Trump with ‘the Iranian regime must go’ is political performance art; cutting through the BS posturing, what Newsom’s really doing is siding with Iran against Americans. The right thing to have said was, “While President Trump and I don’t agree on everything, protecting our citizens should be uppermost in every president’s mind.”
But no. His Trump Derangement Syndrome is too advanced.
Meanwhile, New York’s socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, along with several other Democrats, criticized the strikes, once again revealing that opposing Trump takes precedence over the safety of U.S. military personnel and our legal residents.
Cry harder, Gavin, Jane, and Zohran — it won’t bring back the sadistic former Supreme Leader.
