Gavin Newsom aims to present himself as an everyman, someone who resonates with everyday voters. However, this image is a stark contrast to reality. He was raised by a wealthy father and, despite his parents’ divorce, he never experienced the hardships of poverty. Nevertheless, he believes this persona appeals to certain voter segments. For instance, during a speech to black voters in Georgia, he downplayed his abilities by claiming he “can’t read speeches” and emphasized his modest 690 SAT score.
He even made the claim of having grown up in less-than-ideal circumstances, mentioning how his mom worked long hours, leaving him to rely on frozen lasagna and macaroni and cheese.
“Walking home, got home early, my mom was always working,” Newsom said, “so cooking literally lived on Stouffer’s lasagna, macaroni and cheese.”

Pay attention to the rhythm of his voice as well. The usual rapid-fire delivery we’re accustomed to is nowhere to be found. Nicki Minaj pointed out how his tone shifted to better connect with this audience.

Poor Gavin. He acts as if the Internet isn’t a real thing and no one can fact-check his BS. He was featured in a San Francisco Chronicle article titled “Children of the Rich” in 1991 – you can’t make this up.

So he grew up in circles with the Gettys etc., and he lives off mac & cheese? https://t.co/F2NCLsbOMl

Well, you can if you’re Gavin Newsom.
What he meant to say was that their servant at times failed to cook his meal of request. Then there was that very expensive scarf “Most Stylish” Gavin wore in his senior yearbook. It costs (at the time) several hundred bucks.

This is how he sees people. He sees himself as superior to all others and races. https://t.co/jH0v7X5IYp

And never forget he’s the one who shut down California businesses during the COVID hype but left the fancy French Laundry restaurant open so he could dine in luxury.

Using the “I’m rich and privileged” angle rarely resonates with voters, and neither does being dishonest, for that matter.
