For many observers, one of the most striking moments in recent congressional history occurred in February 2020, when then–House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tore up her copy of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Pelosi, who was serving as Speaker at the time, ripped the speech in half immediately after Trump concluded his remarks. The gesture, captured live on national television, quickly became one of the pettiest of Democrat petty in modern history:

This was the same State of the Union address, mind you, where Trump paid tribute to the ailing legend, the late Rush Limbaugh, by awarding him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Now that they find themselves out of power in the Oval Office, the Senate, and the House, Democrats seem to be leaning on obstruction, protests, and constant complaints about imagined existential threats posed by the president.

But will they manage to keep it classy for this longstanding tradition, the State of the Union scheduled for February 24? Of course not:
House Democrats are plotting a range of moves to broadcast their defiance of President Trump during his State of the Union address to Congress next week.
Trump’s speech marks a significant flash point amid a Department of Homeland Security shutdown, with the White House and Democrats locked in an impasse over reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection after immigration agents fatally shot two U.S. citizens in Minnesota.
Democrats seem to be completely clueless about the widespread mockery of their endless whining and protests and thus have no plans to slow down:
“The only question for me is which of his disgusting lines prompts me to get up and leave, because at some point I will,” Rep. Jared Huffman, D-Calif., told Axios.
Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., told The Hill he is “thinking” about some form of protest, blasting Trump for what he called “massive corruption” and “despicable acts at Epstein’s island.”
Other Democrats are taking a more calculated approach, bringing guests meant to highlight policy grievances.
But here’s the reality: They face a strong and strong-willed president who is getting results:

There’s still no word on whether Rep. Al Green (TX-09) has any plans for theatrics this time around. In 2024, he infamously waved his cane at the president during a speech, which led to his removal and subsequent censure. Meanwhile, Democratic women have been consistently sporting the same color outfits, almost as if mimicking one another is a potent form of protest.
Expect a lively, circus-like atmosphere later this month—don’t forget to bring some popcorn as you watch the clown show Democrats. However, in the end, it will be Trump who has the last laugh, standing at the podium while none of them take the stage.
