AOC’s Bumblin’, Stumblin’ On Munich’s Global Stage Is A Midterm Highlight Reel

Over the weekend, the Munich Security Conference captured the spotlight, showcasing a gathering of global elites while most of the world looked on with indifference. Typically, when world leaders assemble, it’s wise individuals who safeguard their wallets and pull out their copies of The Constitution and The Federalist Papers.

This time, however, the media buzzed with excitement over the attendees. Gavin Newsom was busy hogging the camera, once again sidestepping his actual responsibilities as Governor. Mark Kelly used the global stage to condemn the nation and, for what felt like the umpteenth time, lamented how he was allegedly silenced by President Trump. Meanwhile, Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer stepped onto the scene, sounding more like a neighborhood HOA president trying to enforce mailbox rules than a serious leader, all the while struggling to measure up to the moment.

It was evident that the Munich conference served as a launchpad for the Democratic Party’s presidential hopefuls ahead of the 2028 election. Much like the Toronto Film Festival signals the start of the Academy Award promotional season each fall, Munich was being used as a showcase for the Democrats’ emerging candidates.

Among the notable figures at the event was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who unfortunately made headlines for all the wrong reasons. For several days, she dominated the news and social media, garnering attention for her bewildering remarks in Germany. Her display of confusion seemed to reach new heights, even surpassing her previous instances of misunderstanding. The situation was so cringeworthy that even Senator Mazie Hirono might have felt a twinge of embarrassment for her.

Just don’t count on Bloomberg to keep you informed about that. While much of the nation—and indeed, a significant part of the world—was chuckling at her obvious inability to answer a simple question about Taiwan, the news outlet was busy providing the kind of protective, white knight coverage we’ve come to expect when election campaigns kick off. Reflecting on the revisionist reporting we saw during the last election, it’s clear that AOC is poised to receive what we might call “Kamala Koverage 2.0.” This recent appearance in Munich has certainly shown that she will need it.

In the introduction, they unintentionally weakened their argument by acknowledging that AOC has been somewhat out of her depth from the beginning. Reporters Nick Wadhams and María Paula Mijares Torres note that AOC is “better known for her strong progressive stances than her foreign policy views.” They further diminish her standing by pointing out that she lacks significant international influence, as she is not a member of either the Foreign Affairs or Armed Services Committees.

In summary, Alex From The Bronx has primarily focused on Latin American issues, which isn’t surprising given her Puerto Rican heritage, as well as on Palestine, much like most members of her party, with the exception of John Fetterman. An example of what could be termed the AOC Doctrine might be, “We suck really bad and want to be just like you!”

Despite her lack of skill, Wadhams and Mijares were undeterred in fulfilling their responsibilities. They assure us that AOC’s performance was far from disastrous; rather, it was characterized by clear-headedness and effective leadership. Seriously, I’m not joking.

Let’s begin with this glowing nugget:

She demanded a foreign policy approach that counters record inequality and looks to undo a world “dominated by a handful of elites, a handful of oligarchs that sit in pretend democracies and make backdoor deals with one another.”

She was literally invited to the conference by a handful of global elites who run it. Talk about tone-deaf.

Eventually, the ‘reporters’ do get around to confirming AOC’s brain-freeze moment when she tried responded to questions from Bloomberg’s own Francine Lacqua regarding Taiwan: “This is such a, a, you know, I think that, this is a, um, this is of course, a, ah, a very longstanding, um, policy of the United States.”

WATCH:

To borrow from Howard Jones, her aspirations were in the clouds but her hopes went down the drain.

AOC went to Munich to audition for a POTUS run and demonstrate she is more than a dim-witted barmaid who read the CliffsNotes for the Marx-Engels Reader.

Just…wow. Beyond moronic.

Following that leap from the train trestle, she might just have a stronger case than Joe Biden for having a stutter in her speech.

Then the cleanup effort starts;  these reporters argue that, in the end, she did manage to provide a coherent response. However, her proposal was about as substantial as a decaffeinated coffee—essentially suggesting we should simply avoid conflict and strive for world peace, reminiscent of a beauty pageant contestant’s shallow remarks. Naturally, the next step was to have a spokesperson step in and clarify away the confusion surrounding her comments.

Ocasio-Cortez hesitated “because she wanted to be careful about what she was saying,” Matt Duss, who advises Ocasio-Cortez on foreign policy, said in an interview. “I wish more politicians would wait to answer instead of rattling off talking points.”

Oh, brother.

Then, in what seems like an insistence that our observations were anything but a prime example of emptiness, they conclude their reevaluation with yet another round of AOC delivering some impressive, yet superficial, rhetoric that supposedly captivated the elite Euro-crowd in attendance.

“There have been many leaders who have said we will go back but I think we have to recognize that we are in a new time. Many of us are here to say, ‘We are here, we are ready for the next chapter, not to have the world turn to isolation but to deepen our partnership on greater and increased commitment to integrity to our values.”

The remark drew sustained applause from the crowd.

Why wouldn’t it draw sustained applause? The American taxpayer has been footing the security bill for Europe for decades, especially after the Cold War ended and our European ‘partners’ began to tank their own defense spending, preferring instead to pour that money back into their own societies while Uncle Sam doubled down and kept their continent wrapped in our expensive nuclear security blanket flanked by multi-billion dollar aircraft carriers.

When it comes to Ocasio-Cortez, it’s telling that she managed to say so much while saying so little, and yet the Euro-elites were so impressed by it.

This really sheds light on the current state of the European Union. AOC has been in the game since 2018, and it’s evident that she hasn’t improved her skills over the years. After more than six years in Washington D.C., she still hasn’t moved beyond the level of a rambling bartender. In fact, she often sounds like someone who’s sampling her own drinks while trying to serve customers.

For any member of the press to be impressed by her, they come off like one of her tipsy patrons.
