On just about everything, we’re usually on the opposite side of Cenk Uygur and his progressive outfit, The Young Turks. But a broken clock is right twice a day, so there’s that.
Uygur took aim at the Democratic establishment — and the uncomfortable truth is, it landed. Strip away whatever ulterior motive he may have about dragging the party further left, and the core criticism stands: too many figures in today’s Democratic Party have built careers on rhetoric instead of results.
The frustration isn’t ideological — it’s performance-based. Critics argue the party is crowded with politicians who lecture endlessly, govern ineffectively, and carry themselves with a confidence that far outpaces their accomplishments:

I was just in Washington and here’s my read of Democratic Party right now. 98% of them think they are the most important people on earth. 98% of them have done absolutely nothing. They demand respect, which they haven’t earned at all. They have an unbearable entitlement complex.
I say that as someone who wants Democrats to do better. But our so-called representatives are detached from reality and think they’re royalty. They’re outraged if you don’t show them deference. Why? Why would I defer to your corrupt, incompetent ass? You have to earn the respect!
Yes, Republican politicians are worse on policy, worse on corruption (except Massie), worse on serving elites. But they don’t seem to hate their own voters as much, to be honest. Our politicians give us the sense that we are a terrible inconvenience. They have unearned arrogance.

Massie isn’t what I’d call a GOP asset; his ‘libertarianism,’ along with that of Sen. Rand Paul, is a nuisance, not a help – to either party but mostly to ours. And don’t get me started on Mitch McConnell’s Trump Derangement Syndrome. As for Republican “policies,” seems like the economy’s improving, prices for gas, food, and housing are falling, jobs are plentiful, the stock market keeps hitting records, millions of illegals are leaving – and it’s all due to the president and the GOP-led Congress. Life in America under President Autopen and Vice President Word Salad was abysmal.
But the rest of what he says about the Democrats is spot-on. They really do think they’re entitled to much more respect than they’ve even come close to earning.
And that’s a big reason Democrats keep stumbling in the elections that actually determine power. They double down on niche messaging, reward ideological purity over broad appeal, and then act shocked when the map doesn’t cooperate.
By all means, keep the self-righteous posturing. Keep talking down to middle America. Keep framing every disagreement as moral heresy instead of political debate. That strategy has produced more cable-news applause than electoral success.
National elections aren’t won by a coalition of beta males, gay people, bitchy, screeching, lonely white women, and the blue-haired cretins.
