Following the shooting of left-wing activist Alex Pretti, Democrats rushed out a brand-new playbook that boiled down to one thing: blame and sack someone in the Trump administration. Within days, Illinois Rep. Robin Kelly drafted articles of impeachment aimed at Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and the list of House Democrats backing her effort ballooned rapidly. What started with a few complaints quickly turned into a chorus demanding Noem’s removal — not because of policy debate, but because political leaders saw an opportunity to score points, punish a Trump appointee, and energize their base.
It didn’t take long for “voice of reason” Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania to prove that, all things being said, he’s still a Democrat:
.@POTUS @realDonaldTrump: I make a direct appeal to immediately fire @Sec_Noem.
Americans have died.
She is betraying DHS’s core mission and trashing your border security legacy.
DO NOT make the mistake President Biden made for not firing a grossly incompetent DHS Secretary.

Notice how Fetterman tried to rope in Joe ‘Autopen’ Biden’s DHS secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, to ‘justify’ his call for ousting Noem. Let’s be clear: Biden’s open borders policies came from Biden (or whoever was really running the show), not Mayorkas. His job was merely to implement the White House’s policies, and that is what Noem has done – President Trump sidestepping her and putting Tom Homan in charge of the Minneapolis operations notwithstanding.

Many conservatives reminded Fetterman and other Democrats that the blame for the deaths in Minnesota doesn’t lie with DHS leadership — it lies with the anti-federal agitators and political figures who encouraged resistance to law enforcement. Gov. Tim Walz, Mayor Jacob Frey, and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan all spent weeks fanning anti-ICE sentiment, publicly saying the state was “at war” with the Feds, and called ICE agents Nazis and the Gestapo.
Americans have died because certain Americans decided to join Marxist insurgency groups that harass and interfere with lawful ICE operations.
Call it what it is and stop joining in the rest of the criminal left in this color revolution.

*Insurrectionists* have died. Those engaging in rebellion against the United States reject America, so I reject them. As should all patriots.

If you really wrote this, I’d like you to explain how it’s Noem’s fault that a guy (no longer a nurse, btw) who decided to carry his weapon into a zone where law enforcement was attempting to arrest an illegal, and then decided it was a good idea to get into a physical…

It’s also fair to note that Fetterman has not been with his party on immigration generally – he has supported border enforcement policies and he also voted to confirm Noem.
.@SenFettermanPA has been both a a “very pro-immigration Democrat” while also saying the United States should “deport all criminal immigrants. He has also said he "rejects the calls to defund or abolish ICE"
All of this is notable in this context . https://t.co/0ddWowJzv5— ZitoSalena (@ZitoSalena) January 27, 2026
The challenge of ousting Noem lies in the fact that it’s improbable that anyone could be appointed to take her place, especially considering the divisive environment in Congress today, particularly regarding the Department of Homeland Security and ICE.
