‘Comrade Newsom’ Suffers Glorious Humiliation At the Hands of Calif. Residents

It’s been a brutal stretch for California Gov. Gavin Newsom — and frankly, it’s self-inflicted. The man who’s quietly positioning himself for a presidential run presides over an administration defined by spectacular failure. A multi-billion-dollar train to nowhere. The nation’s largest homeless population. Businesses and residents fleeing in droves. Entire swaths of Los Angeles burned to the ground in the 2025 wildfires, followed by a limp, bureaucratic recovery that exposed just how hollow California’s leadership has become.

And that’s just the short list.

Rather than confront the mess he’s created at home, Newsom jetted off to Davos earlier this month to cosplay as a global statesman at the World Economic Forum — because nothing says “serious leader” like abandoning your state to lecture foreign elites. That little fantasy didn’t last long. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent dismantled Newsom’s record in plain terms, laying bare just how badly the coiffed governor has mismanaged the Golden State.

And it only got more humiliating from there. Newsom wasn’t even allowed to deliver his scheduled speech at the USA House pavilion. Instead, he sat sidelined while his nemesis, President Donald Trump, reminded the Davos crowd who actually leads the United States — and made clear that American economic and military dominance isn’t up for negotiation.

For Newsom, it was a stark contrast: style without substance, ambition without achievement, and a global stage that ultimately exposed just how small his record really is.

Now that Davos is over and the global-elite cosplay has wrapped up, Gavin Newsom has a fresh dose of ridicule waiting for him back home: street art dubbing him “Comrade Newsom,” complete with communist iconography.

It’s not exactly subtle — and frankly, it fits. When you govern like a central planner, lecture like a party apparatchik, and chase applause from foreign elites instead of fixing your state, don’t be surprised when the public starts drawing the parallels for you:

Did the new book, The Invisible Coup: How American Elites and Foreign Powers Use Immigration as a Weapon, by investigative journalist Peter Schweizer, serve as inspiration for the art?

The street art appears to hit many of the bombshell themes in Schweizer’s book, now the #1 book on Amazon, from the “Manchurian Generation” of more than one million Chinese with U.S. citizenship who grew up in communist China and could be eligible to vote in the 2030 American elections to the thousands of Chinese pilots sent to the U.S. and taught to fly.

Online sleuths are already speculating that the piece could be the work of the notorious street artist Sabo — and if so, it would be right on brand. He’s known for skewering left-wing vanity projects with brutal accuracy, and his past work has a habit of landing uncomfortably close to the truth. Funny? Absolutely. But more importantly, dead on:

Check out what’s been spotted around Los Angeles, right when George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Co. desperately fundraise for sinking ship S.S. @JoeBiden.

Could this be Sabo of Unsavory Agents or some other fed up citizen, disgusted with what Democrats have done? pic.twitter.com/PbZJi6sBH3

I’ve long believed humor is one of the most effective weapons in politics. When it’s done right, it slices through the nonsense faster than any policy paper ever could — exposing the vanity, hypocrisy, and incompetence of bad politicians in a single image instead of a thousand words. And while I’m certainly not opposed to using words, the truth is the two work best together: satire to grab attention, and facts to finish the job.

Images like this are a reminder of Newsom’s own accidental honesty back in 2023, when he all but admitted San Francisco only got a temporary cleanup because China’s president was coming to town. Once the motorcade left, so did the effort — and the city slid right back into its usual mix of filth, danger, and neglect. That moment said more about Newsom’s priorities than any speech ever could.

And if this piece does turn out to be Sabo’s work, here’s hoping it’s just the beginning.
