Kristi Noem Quietly Puts A Chain Around The Neck of Democrats Who Want to Disrupt ICE Facilities

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem isn’t indulging Democratic theatrics in the aftermath of last week’s Minneapolis shooting. As left-wing lawmakers rush to politicize the death of far-left agitator Renee Nicole Good and stoke already volatile tensions, Noem is drawing a firm line.

Rather than allowing Congress to turn DHS facilities into backdrops for press conferences and protest optics, Noem quietly updated department policy. Going forward, Members of Congress must submit visit requests at least one week in advance — a basic, common-sense measure aimed at security and operational order.

The latest tactical move from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem isn’t an accident — it’s a direct response to a December ruling by U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb, a Biden appointee who struck down the previous DHS directive that required lawmakers to give advance notice before visiting ICE facilities. Instead of rolling over, Noem found a way around the judge’s stunt by leaning on funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), which isn’t subject to the same restrictions the judge relied on.

Noem clearly stated she disagreed with Cobb’s interpretation of the law but intends to use OBBBA dollars that aren’t constrained by the limitations the judge cited. DHS will use the OBBBA-derived funds to “ensure adequate protection for Members of Congress, congressional staff, detainees, and ICE employees alike.”

In a memo to acting ICE director Todd Lyons, Noem wrote that the policy is necessary to blunt “an increasing trend of replacing legitimate oversight activities with circus-like publicity stunts, all of which creates a chaotic environment with heightened emotions.” She didn’t explicitly name the Democrats, but it’s clear that they benefit from the “heightened emotions” surrounding the removal of undocumented immigrants from the country.

And Democrats are the only ‘circus-like’ clowns who have been going to ICE facilities to do performative art for their unhinged left-wing voting base.

On Saturday, three Minnesota Democrats — Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig and Kelly Morrison — made a grandstanding attempt to barge into the ICE detention facility at the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis and were summarily turned away by federal officials. Naturally Omar whined on X, “Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.”

That’s fine — they’re free to submit a request with seven days’ notice like everyone else. Members of Congress, much to the Left’s outrage, do not have the right to show up unannounced, hijack federal facilities, and whip their activist foot soldiers into a frenzy. That kind of reckless behavior puts lives at risk, all because Democrats refuse to control their emotions or respect basic security rules.

And as Secretary Noem correctly pointed out over the weekend, the people Democrats are effectively willing to see others get hurt or killed over are not sympathetic figures. These detainees are the worst of the worst — murderers, rapists, and child predators. Yet the Left would rather manufacture chaos and moral hysteria than acknowledge the reality of who ICE is actually holding.

Of course, Democrats plan to challenge Noem’s updated order in court because again, it’s all about performative politics for the unhinged base. But it’s also this: Democrats really do care more about people in the country illegally because a) it bolsters census numbers in their states which gives them more congressional representation than they deserve; and b) they’re just horrible people.
