Portland Police Chief’s Tearful Fawning Over Illegal Alien Gang Bangers Shot By Border Patrol Is Pathetic

I’m beyond stunned. I truly am. What I just witnessed in Portland (not live – a news report) left me shaking my head like never before.

The police chief there, Robert Day, was eventually forced to admit what he initially tried to dodge — that the people ICE shot were members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang. The truth came out only after it became impossible to keep denying it. And yet, even after conceding that fact, he continues to describe them as “victims.”

If anyone needs to get the h-e-double hockey sticks out of law enforcement, it’s this guy:

Indy journalist Andy Ngo, who has been covering the insane, left-wing lunacy of Portland for several years now, wrote:

Portland Police @ChiefBobDay cries at a press conference after having to affirm that @DHSgov was correct in stating that the illegal Venezuelan migrants accused of trying to run down Border Patrol have ties to Tren de Aragua. Chief Day admitted that he hesitated to share the truth with the public.

On Jan. 8, Border Patrol non-fatally shot a man and a woman in east Portland after they allegedly tried to run down agents in a red pickup truck following a targeted stop. Internal communications about the incident, which was inaccurately blamed on ICE, were leaked to PDX ICE Watch by a Multnomah County first responder.

The entire city and state leadership, all run by Democrats, organized an emergency press conference to condemn the federal agents, reject DHS’ statement and to express support with the violent suspects, who they called the “victims.” Local and national media also misled the public about the shooting. A mob showed up to try to attack the ICE facility, leading to six arrests.

By the way, most cops are probably thinking the same thing I am – this is the last guy you’d want backing you up. At a crucial moment, his politics would get in the way of doing the right thing and leave fellow cops holding the bag or worse.

The two so-called “victims” in the Portland shooting, in case you were wondering, weren’t innocent bystanders trying to cooperate with law enforcement — they were fleeing federal agents who were trying to take them into custody. They attempted to escape apprehension by ICE and Border Patrol, using their vehicle as a weapon against the agents trying to arrest them.

These aren’t law-abiding citizens wrapped in an American flag. They are known to have entered the country illegally and are tied to violent criminal activity, including sex trafficking and other serious offenses — the very types of threats federal law enforcement is deployed to stop. And yet, in Portland, their attackers are being treated like martyrs and protected constituents.

“My Latino community.” I was taken aback; he didn’t say “LatinX,” but maybe it just slipped his mind.

If Venezuelan gang members refuse to traffic women for sex, who else would? They’re merely filling the roles that Americans won’t take, right?

The Department of Homeland Security has released the names and photos of the two alleged Tren de Aragua associates from Venezuela accused of trying to run over Border Patrol agents in Portland on Jan. 8.

Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras were non-fatally shot after allegedly attempting to ram their truck into federal agents during a targeted stop in east Portland. The pair fled the scene and then called 911 for assistance. Almost immediately, details of the shooting were leaked to the extremist group PDX ICE Watch by a Multnomah County first responder.

The photo was taken of a computer system inside a first responder vehicle. According to sourcing, it was not a Portland Police in-car computer system. It could be from the Portland Street Response, Portland Fire, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, an ambulance driver or another first responder in the county. It is unlikely the county will investigate the leak to the anti-ICE radical group.

You heard it correctly. A city employee disclosed sensitive information to a radical anti-ICE group, prompting city and state officials to rush in front of the cameras. They condemned ICE and defended the criminals who attempted to harm ICE agents:

The incident sparked an extraordinary press conference by Oregon and city officials — all Democrats — who condemned the federal agents and expressed sympathy for the accused foreign gang associates, repeatedly referring to them as “victims.” Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said he did not believe DHS’s account. Rep. Janelle Bynum, who represents part of the Portland area, issued an official statement declaring: “This isn’t law enforcement, it’s state-sponsored terrorism. Stop fucking with us.”

According to DHS, Zambrano-Contreras, the female passenger, is an illegal migrant who entered the U.S. through Texas in 2023 and was released into the interior under the Biden administration. DHS says she played “an active role in a Tren de Aragua prostitution ring” and was involved in a prior shooting in Portland. Her online profiles advertise prostitution services in the city.

The Portland Police attempted to conceal the identity of these individuals as members of Tren de Aragua, as this might alter public perception of the “victims.” It is crucial to foster significant animosity toward the federal government, and revealing that they were violent offenders involved in other shootings could complicate that effort.

You really can’t make this up.

This aligns with the actions of the Philadelphia Sheriff against ICE. She even went so far as to claim that ICE officers were not legitimate law enforcement and encouraged people to engage in criminal activities against them, all while surrounded by Democratic officials:

Why this ‘sheriff’ felt a need to speak to something that happened in Portland is beyond me and grist for another column, but I digress.

The Philadelphia District Attorney, that left-wing Soros kook Larry Krasner, is now warning ICE agents. While criminals may feel free to disregard the law, it seems those working to catch them are the ones facing threats:

What goes through the mind of law enforcement leaders who now seem to believe their job is to shield criminals and take rhetorical aim at federal officers doing theirs? How did we arrive at a moment where a police chief can grow emotional while describing violent gang members and sex traffickers as “victims,” yet show little concern for the agents they attacked?

We are living in very insane times. And I don’t see much improvement on the horizon, only a Democratic Party veering further to the left of Lenin and Stalin hell-bent on destroying the fabric of society built by our founders.
