Mayor Jacob Frey disgraced himself in the immediate aftermath of the ICE shooting of Renee Good. Before investigators could establish the facts, before tensions could cool, Frey rushed to the microphones and declared it a “murder,” effectively handing down a political verdict in real time. A mayor’s first duty in moments of crisis is to call for calm and clarity. Frey chose provocation instead.
Worse, he openly cursed federal law enforcement and told ICE to “get the f**k out” of Minneapolis — language unbecoming of any public official, let alone the leader of a major American city.
After new cellphone video of the ICE shooting of Renee Good in Minnesota emerged, Democrats should have done the responsible thing: pause, correct the record, and apologize for pushing a false and inflammatory narrative. Instead, they did the opposite. Their rhetoric didn’t soften — it grew more divisive and even more indefensible.
Confronted with evidence that undercut their claims, Democrats refused to acknowledge error. Rather than level with the public, they doubled down on distortion. I previously wrote about the despicable graphic Democrats posted on their official X account, a deliberately misleading image that erased a critical fact: the ICE agent was struck before the shooting.

What Mayor Jacob Frey said on Friday made one thing unmistakably clear: Democrats are no longer grounded in reality. Even as Frey appeared to finally concede that the ICE agent was struck by “Renee,” he treated that fact as an afterthought — something to be brushed aside rather than taken seriously.
At no point did Frey show genuine concern for the law or for the injured federal agent. Instead, he minimized the assault, belittled the injury, and framed the incident as though lawful authority and self-defense were irrelevant.

“I mean, the ICE agent walked away with a hip injury that he might as well have gotten from closing a refrigerator door with his hips,” Frey said derisively.
“He was not injured,” he claimed. “Give me a break…He walked out of there with a hop in his step.”
Frey’s comments took things from reckless to deranged. He appeared to mock the ICE agent for briefly hopping and limping away after being struck, as if the absence of an immediate collapse somehow proved the attack didn’t matter. How does a sitting mayor talk this way and still pretend to care about the law, public safety, or basic decency?
This is off-the-charts lunacy — especially from the mayor of a city that has already seen neighborhoods burned to the ground after leaders indulged lawlessness and excused violence. Minneapolis doesn’t need more sneering dismissal of assaults on law enforcement. It needs sobriety and responsibility. Frey offered neither.
What we’re watching is a familiar Democratic retreat. First it was “the agent wasn’t hit.” When that collapsed, the story shifted to “well, he wasn’t really hurt.” It’s a moving set of goalposts designed to excuse the inexcusable. Frey doesn’t know the extent of the agent’s injuries — and neither does anyone else at that moment. But even if the agent was fortunate enough to avoid serious harm, that changes nothing. Striking a federal agent is a crime. It doesn’t become acceptable because the victim managed to walk away.
And no, an agent does not have to wait until he’s dead or permanently disabled before defending himself. That idea is absurd — and dangerous. Self-defense does not require martyrdom.

As for Frey’s comparison about hurting a hip shutting a refrigerator door: it’s a laughable, juvenile take. It trivializes violence, insults common sense, and reveals just how far Democrats are willing to bend reality to protect their narrative. This isn’t leadership. It’s mockery masquerading as morality.
But Democrats are determined to keep the outrage machine running — against ICE and against President Donald Trump — regardless of who it harms. Facts don’t matter. Consequences don’t matter. What matters is sustaining anger and directing it at their preferred targets.
This has to be the most selfish, destructive political party in our history. Take a bow, Frey.
