Border Patrol Agents Shoot Illegal Alien Gang Bangers In Oregon and Democrats Blame ICE

Reports Thursday afternoon that Customs and Border Protection agents had shot two people in Portland, Oregon, predictably set off another round of panic and outrage. Coming on the heels of the fatal shooting of anti-ICE activist Renee Good in Minneapolis the day before, the Portland incident was immediately seized upon as further “proof” of federal law enforcement run amok — even as basic facts about what happened were still unknown.

Portland Police Bureau Chief Bob Day responded with a carefully worded statement that seemed less focused on informing the public than on insulating his department from political fallout. In it, Day went out of his way to stress — repeatedly — that the Portland Police Bureau had no involvement “in any way, shape, or form” with immigration enforcement:

This is a federal investigation, it’s being led by the FBI, we have been in touch with them, we are in regular contact, this is their responsibility. But when we have these type of events happen in the city, Portland Police Bureau does offer a level of assistance. This is not in any way, shape, or form immigration-related on our end. We do not know the facts of this case, we are simply providing the traditional investigative support and perimeter support, which is minimal. But I do want to make it clear that we are out there but we are not involved in immigration.

Portland Police Chief Bob Day confirmed two people were injured in a federal officer-involved shooting outside a hospital in Portland on Thursday afternoon, but said he was "unsure" if it was an immigration-related event.

True to the well-worn political playbook popularized by former Clinton chief of staff and former Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel — “never let a crisis go to waste” — Portland and Oregon officials rushed to assign blame before the facts were even known. Before authorities identified the federal agency involved or released information about the victims, elected leaders were already pointing fingers at ICE and Donald Trump.

Nothing new there, unfortunately.

The, between the hours of 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Pacific Time, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson issued this statement:

Just one day after the horrific violence in Minnesota at the hands of federal agents, our community here in Portland is now grappling with another deeply troubling incident. Earlier this afternoon, two people were shot and injured by federal agents in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

Flames, meet fan and the Democrat behind it.

Wilson skipped the contortions offered by Chief Day altogether. Dispensing with the theatrics — and, notably, the profanity — he delivered a statement that might as well have been copied and pasted from Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. The familiar script followed: ominous talk of “militarized” federal agents, denunciations of the Trump administration, and demands that “ICE” halt operations in the city — all heavy on political imagery and light on facts.

"We are calling on ICE to halt all operations in Portland until a full and independent investigation can take place.”

Wilson then moved to threaten ‘legal action.’ Yeah, buddy, good luck with that:

We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts. Portland is not a “training ground” for militarized agents, and the “full force” threatened by the administration has deadly consequences. As Mayor, I call on ICE to end all operations in Portland until a full investigation can be completed.

Federal militarization undermines effective, community?based public safety, and it runs counter to the values that define our region. I will use every legal and legislative tool available to protect our residents’ civil and human rights.

Oregon Rep. Janelle Bynum followed the now-familiar Democrat playbook, mirroring the theatrics of her House colleague Jasmine Crockett by lacing her remarks with repeated profanity. The F-bombs came early and often, substituting volume and vulgarity for substance.

Not to be outdone, Oregon Democratic State Senate leader and Somali immigrant Kayse Jama, who appeared to barely be able to grasp English, piled on with a crude and unserious statement, declaring that ICE was not welcome and telling agents to “get the hell out of our community.”

Maxine Dexter (OR-03), a fellow Democrat representative, also took aim at ICE, invoking Trump and the specter of authoritarianism as she called for the agency to leave Portland:

Just one day after the horrific murder in Minneapolis, I received reports that two people in my district were shot by federal immigration officials this afternoon in East Portland. Both individuals are alive, but we do not know the extent of their injuries.

ICE has done nothing but inject terror, chaos, and cruelty in our communities. Trump’s immigration machine is using violence to control our communities — straight out of the authoritarian playbook.

Again, dear reader, these were illegal alien members of a very dangerous gang. And these Democrats are embracing them over American federal law enforcers.

But here’s how we know this was pure political theater: officials either ignored — or couldn’t be bothered to process — Portland Police Chief Bob Day’s limp statement admitting he had no idea which federal agency was involved. Facts didn’t matter. The reflexive move was to pin it on ICE anyway and, of course, blame Trump.

Sen. Jeff Merkley eagerly joined the chorus, wagging a finger at the former president while urging protesters to remain peaceful — lest Trump, in his telling, seize any opportunity to “incite a riot.”

Sure, Jeff, sure.

Huge concern about a reported shooting of two individuals by federal agents outside Portland Adventist Hospital.

My team and I are closely monitoring this situation and are working hard to get answers. I will share any updates as I learn more.

Please keep protests of Trump's… https://t.co/1a6QoJfbia

Fox News’ White House correspondent Bill Melugin said it well in his quote of Rep. Maxine Dexter’s X statement:

This is what happens when politicians put out statements without waiting for any facts.

“ICE must end all operations in Portland…” & bashes ICE etc.

But this shooting wasn’t even ICE. It was Border Patrol. Completely different agencies. & DHS says they were targeting TdA.

Not long after the incident, the Department of Homeland Security issued this statement:

At 2:19 PST, US Border Patrol agents were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon. The passenger of the vehicle and target is a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and involved in a recent shooting in Portland. The vehicle driver is believed to be a member of the vicious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. When agents identified themselves to the vehicle occupants, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents.

Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot. The driver drove off with the passenger, fleeing the scene.

This situation is evolving and more information is forthcoming.

Regardless of what the facts ultimately show — or what the Department of Homeland Security has to say — the left’s script is already locked in. Ignore inconvenient details, distort events, and agitate hostility toward federal law enforcement. Then, once the chaos starts, retreat to safety, clutch pearls, and pretend shock as the mob predictably spirals — vandalizing, burning, and rioting — before circling back to pin the blame on Trump. Facts are optional; outrage is mandatory.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek is now calling for a “full investigation.” Considering that Oregon might have a significant amount of Somali fraud similar to Minnesota, Kotek should be cautious about what she damands:

Finally, I’m not at all sure why the governor, mayor, and police chief had to make a statement in the first place. Federal law enforcement operations happen daily and sometimes, unfortunately, there is violence. But the vast majority of those incidents go off without all this fanfare from top elected officials.

Of course, we’re talking Democrats here, and federal immigrant enforcement. We all know Democrats love their illegal aliens much more than their own citizens.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
