Joe Biden (or the person managing his X account) uploaded a picture of his family on Christmas Eve. However, the image quickly sparked discussions on social media due to an apparent issue with the portrayal of Joe Biden in front of the tree.
Hunter Biden was placed in the center, flanked by his young son, Beau, in front of him. Jill Biden and her daughter, Ashley, stood on either side of Hunter, while Hunter’s three daughters from his first marriage were positioned in the back row.
“Wishing you a peaceful and joyful Christmas Eve filled with love,” Joe (or the person behind the account) wrote.
However, the individual who was hardly noticeable in the image, the one you might expect to stand out in such a photo, was concealed in the back row. Joe Biden was scarcely seen and partially obscured by his spouse.

Many individuals believed it must have been photoshopped. Others interpreted it as a commentary and joked about “Where’s Waldo?”
His family buried him in the back of the Christmas photo and then posted it on his own account.
Absolute savages. https://t.co/cEkeXHatZV

The placement may have looked odd, but it was entirely on brand. Even when Joe Biden was nominally occupying the Oval Office, he was often nowhere to be found—kept out of sight, tightly managed, and shielded from unscripted press interactions.
The contrast with President Donald Trump could not be clearer. Trump is constantly engaging with reporters, taking questions, and making himself available, whether friendly or hostile media are involved. Biden’s handlers, by comparison, appeared far more interested in hiding him than letting him lead.
Many Americans would prefer to forget that Biden ever served as president at all, but even so, the optics were striking. One might reasonably expect a former president—especially at a family-centered or high-profile event—to at least merit a front-row seat. Instead, he appeared relegated to the background.
The image echoed previous moments in which Biden seemed less like a central figure and more like an afterthought:

Also noticeably absent was Navy Joan Roberts, Hunter Biden’s child born out of wedlock with Lunden Roberts. Her omission only reinforces a long-running and uncomfortable pattern involving the Biden family.
As has been widely reported, Joe Biden initially struggled to publicly acknowledge the existence of his granddaughter at all. Even after finally doing so—under mounting public pressure—he appeared to lapse back into ignoring her.
That pattern resurfaced again last year, when Biden publicly listed his grandchildren and once more failed to include Navy:
Biden says he has "four granddaughters" — except he has five.
REMINDER: It took Biden 4+ years to even acknowledge Hunter's lovechild — his fifth granddaughter. Now, he has forgotten about her again. pic.twitter.com/WcU1LwMmvL
