President Trump delivered a grim and heartbreaking update on the ambush that targeted National Guard members in Washington, D.C., this week. Two young Guardsmen were shot by an Afghan national who had overstayed his visa — yet another reminder of the catastrophic consequences of lax immigration enforcement.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, opened fire on Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Andrew Wolfe, 24, just steps from the White House on Thanksgiving Eve. Beckstrom tragically succumbed to her wounds on Thanksgiving Day:

Lakanwal came into the country under the Biden administration after previously working with U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan. He has now been formally charged — charges that will almost certainly be upgraded following the death of Army Spc. Beckstrom.
President Trump has correctly laid responsibility where it belongs: at the feet of Joe Biden and the reckless, wide-open immigration policies that made this attack possible in the first place. After a reporter asked why, Trump lit into her.
“Because they let him! Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person? Because they came in on a plane — along with thousands of other people that shouldn’t be here,” Trump snapped. Earlier, he posted a photo to his social media of a planeload of Afghan nations hastily evacuated from the war-torn country before they could be vetted – as reports at the time noted as well. Again, that was all on Biden, who was commander-in-chief at the time.
